Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

Sure, but it is a stretch to suggest it wasn't designed in light of D&D to some degree. That's just as important.

When that "light" is so ubiquitous, it is important in one sense, but then also ceases to be important at all.

There are even more powerful cultural influences on RPGs than D&D, but we aren't heck-bent on insisting on them being given credit.

Yeah but you wouldn't have other RPGs if you didn't have D&D. It started the whole TTRPG concept

Apologies, I thought you were being sardonic, but now see you are being serious.

No worries. Yes, I was saying you wouldn't have Call of Cthulhu, Feng Shui, Powered by Apocalypse, etc if D&D didn't 1) exist and 2) blow up the way it did

I understand D&D giving rise to the concept as a commercial product, but saying all RPGs owe it everything is a little tired.

Why is it tired. These games wouldn't exist if D&D didn't. That isn't taking away anything from these games. Heavy metal owes its existence to rock N roll and the blues. You don't get Megadeth or Morbid Angel without those two things.
