True, though Dirk Benedict was not the problem there.

How sad is it, that I saw this, and thought 'thank god' walk around a bit, came back and only now, caught the fact that it isnt Friday at all.

I said hello darkness my old friend and the darkness said "I ain't your friend"

True story-

I had a friend who insisted, usually when drunk, that the line in the song-

… "Fools" said I, "You do not know
Silence like a cancer grows

Was actually-

… "Fools" said I, "You do not know
Silence like a cantaloupe

And yes, he played a bard.

I KNOW it was better than Galactica 1980.
I didn't have very discerning tastes when I was like, 7, and I loved the original BSG, but my god when I saw Galactica 1980 even at 7 I was like "This is really rubbish and I feel like it's insulting my intelligence". To be fair by that age I was also feeling that way about Buck Rogers. But by then I had Doctor Who and The Tripods at least!

The original BSG might have had crippling budgetary issues (they kept re-using the same footage for all space battles) and it might have also been a very-thinly veiled allegory for a certain religion ...

But at least it had IDEAS! Galactica 1980 was so very bad it makes BJ and the Bear look like The Wire.

Also also? BJ and the Bear ... what were people thinking?????

There's a term for that - a "mondegreen".

Back in 1954, in Harper's magazine, Sylvia Wright described mishearing the last line of the first stanza from the ballad "The Bonnie Earl o' Moray", by Thomas Percy. She had heard:

Ye Highlands and ye Lowlands,
Oh, where hae ye been?
They hae slain the Earl Amurray,
And Lady Mondegreen.

While the real lines are, "They hae slain the Earl o' Moray / and laid him on the green."

There are some famous ones, like "Bad Moon Rising", by Creedence Clearwater revival, that contains the line, "There's a bad moon on the rise," which many people hear as, "There's a bathroom on the right." Eventually CCR started to occasionally perform it live with the alternate line on purpose.

Either Cracked or Mad Magazine did a Star Wars issue that played on the repeated battle scenes. Buttons on the Viper consoles for the specific effects.
