So "AI" is better at showing empathy than real people. That's not the surprising dunk you seem to think it is.

I wonder if it is better at detecting sarcasm too? ;-)

But seriously, I am quite happy about some of the guard rails put on it... and the secondary guard rails to the guard rails that make it harder to slip past the primary ones.

( And now I am resisting the urge to ask if it was sarcasm or something else. )
 



Unfortunately, that's also not as high of a bar as one might hope it would be
Yeah. If we could get Asimov's Three Laws of Robotics in place before the robots take over it would certainly be a monumental step up from where we are now as a species.

1. A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.

2. A robot must obey the orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.

3. A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.
