Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

Years ago, I had a temp gig where we had a keyboard logger. The numbers you had to hit were very reasonable -- until you took out half an hour of lunch and the two federally mandated 15 minute breaks a day. Once those were factored in, you had to fly like the wind non-stop all day to hit your target.

Anyone not hitting their target was out at the end of the week.

On a typical 7 hours workday, that's one hour with no typing, so the difference between "very reasonable" and "unsustainable" was only 15%. I think the "regular" number was already quite high. Not a very welcoming place to be in.

Either it was totally unqualified work (earning 1 sp a day) or it is very bad management: good workers would probably leave on their own even if they meet the rhythm, bad workers stay until fired, which means you need to hire new workers and train them, incurring high HR costs only to hire people who ultimately are as bad as the one you fired because no "good worker" will apply. This overhead could easily ends up costing more than the 15% difference in productivity (especially if unskilled labor AND HR positions are usually filled with people with better wages).

Frankly no, its not worth the discussion, because its a correct and factual statement.

I read an article a week or 2 ago (gross, where has this month gone) and it said something to the effect of.

"We used to have facts, and we would then discussion the 10 impacts of those facts. Now, we have 10 alternative sets of facts, and we debate who is wrong, and which facts are correct, we never move on to the next step of solutions and action."

Which amusingly (or sadly) is the story of this forum or at least many of the threads the last few months. Answers, legit and final, are being provided, but there is no more accepting of facts. Instead its twisted, goalposts are shifted, people are gaslit, and around and around it goes. I mean I'm now ignoring thread starters to get rid of threads because I dont want to just ban 80% of the actually small number of primary contributors to the site.

I am sure part of it is a desire to be combative to 'get it out' because I get that, I've been there, but its a symptom of our decline as a society, it really is.

Grifters are the new False Prophets. The new charlatans. The new snake oil salesmen.

Sad AF.

I must admit to more than a little enjoyment at watching one of these self-professed "internet celebrities", who is travelling the world to be a complete wanker in foreign nations, find out that there are very real criminal ramifications to his actions under the laws of those countries.Calls himself a narcissist. Openly admits to why he does what he does on camera. Lies about his understanding and motivations in court. Quite possibly looking at a realistic decade in a foreign prison at the moment, based just on the charges filed so far, with much more to come.

“If the facts are against you, argue the law. If the law is against you, argue the facts. If the law and the facts are against you, pound the table and yell like hell”
