If you want your data set to be useful for the general public, don't only make it available in the way you assume users will want to use it. Make it possible for users to get a copy of that data in a raw format, in case you're wrong.

More than once I've seen someone apologize to the lamp post they just walked into but hey, it's Canada.

I've not done it to a lamp post, but I'm pretty sure I've apologized to a car I bumped walking by too close.

I haven't had more than 2 people blocked, ever, as I strictly use it situationally. I did see 1 or 2 posts per page occasionally, back then.

I* have had a grand total of three people blocked since I've been here (one of whom is gone now), but apparently I'm irritating enough other people have blocked me (admittedly, when I figured out a couple of them my reaction was "no big loss').

Oh I don't block people for having differences of opinion, or for their point of view on a topic. I block them when they demonstrate bigotry, bullying, or other hateful behavior.

In all three cases, it was not about what they said but their manner. One of the three I was pretty consistently on the same side in discussions of. One of the others I concluded consistently argued in bad faith.

I don't block people about topics, at least within the range of topics discussed on the places I use at all.

Sorry, I didn't mean to imply you were being judgmental. I was just explaining my own blocking philosophy.
