Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

In all three cases, it was not about what they said but their manner. One of the three I was pretty consistently on the same side in discussions of. One of the others I concluded consistently argued in bad faith.

I don't block people about topics, at least within the range of topics discussed on the places I use at all.
In one case I blocked someone, whose opinion I agreed with, because they wouldn't just let a disagreement die out and was sometimes replying to short posts with walls of text. It made my forum experience far more enjoyable, for the couple of weeks this went on ;)

I stopped using FB not because of the people I disagree with but mostly because of the people that I do agree with. . . or maybe it is more accurate to say, "people who want similar outcomes" rather than "agree with," as that is a little too broad.

I noped out after everything, I mean everything, on FB boiled down to peoples cats and racist rants.

For me, the biggest issue is how broken their algorithm is on what it thinks I want to see. I have actively blocked stuff that's virtually the same. Why do you persist in posting it to my feed?

So if you love pineapple, you're a monster who loves habitat destruction and colonization. And if you hate pineapple, you're a monster who wants to bankrupt farmers and starve all of the hummingbirds. There's no room in this discussion for words like "reasonable," "legal," or "sustainable" because we need to believe that all who disagree with us are monsters to be defeated...not neighbors with a difference of opinion.

I think I've had enough "discussion" for one day.

It's like going to the internet for parenting advice, except about things that matter way less than the development of a human being
