It's an interesting thought, but I don't see the massive clouds of vape smoke that I used to, anymore. Maybe people got the message about "popcorn lung"?
I still see it all the time here. But we also legalized pot where I live and that tends to go hand in hand with vaping (I would be willing to bet pretty much all the vamping see is pot: hard to tell though because the clouds are purple and smell like cotton candy). I even see it and smell it when I am in the grocery store aisle

Weed vape is more popular in places its illegal because its easy to conceal. Folks tend to prefer flower, at least locally here where it is legal.

Popcorn lung is linked to diacetyl, which is banned from vape fluid in some places (like the UK), although apparently the connection is not firmly enough established for the FDA to ban it yet. Still, my understanding is that reputable manufacturers don't use it.

If you can't smell cannabis in it AT ALL, it's almost certainly not cannabis. The oil still has the funky aromatic compounds and even if you add other flavors and aromas, those at best mask the distinctive smell a bit.

I still see tons of nicotine vaping in New England. Supplanting cigarettes in a lot of younger folks, particularly, which is substantially less offensive and harmful to bystanders. And seems to be much lower cancer risk from what evidence we have so far, though the addictive effect may be even worse due to the ease of high dose administration (as opposed to cigarettes, which are slower and have a natural break structure and more impediments to constant use) and lower social stigma.

I still see people vaping frequently but not those massive clouds that people would make, just for the sake of making them and annoying others.
