Yeah, I have to admit, I'm getting a lot more trigger happy with my ignore list. It's just not worth the effort anymore, if it ever was. It's certainly a lot less fun that it used to be.

That weird feeling when a thread you are following gets merged with a thread by someone you are ignoring, so it literally disappears but you somehow still get notifications of people reacting to your posts in the now invisible thread.

The only downside to my rapidly expanding ignore list is that a lot of the veiled complaints here are completely lost to me.

Thinking you get to decide how a discussion evolves in a thread because you started it... that's not how it works. You may not like the answer but if it doesn't derail the thread in question, it's a valid reply. Other members (lurkers) are reading it and may find it useful. It's not all about you.
