Something similar happened to me in my twenties. I was walking around my grandma's "neighborhood" (it's just a rural road with some houses along it) and her neighbor called everyone who lived near by trying to see if anyone knew the "suspicious looking character" walking around. The thing that made me suspicious was just that I was looking at things as I walked around, and wasn't on my phone.
