Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

-----
I am by no means psychic, nor am I able to credibly predict the future in most circumstances. That being said...

I am reasonably certain that some of the powers-that-be are unhappy that I am taking off the week of Christmas and then being let go at the end of December. They were really hoping I'd be able to teach everything I know to the guy who is staying on. However, he is taking next week off, and I have off the week after, and then he has a few days off at the end of the year, so I will only see him tomorrow.

I am about 90% certain that they are seriously considering telling me my vacation has been cancelled (after being approved months ago) so that they can get one last week of knowledge transfer. Which they won't be able to do, because I have already bought nonrefundable tickets, and I will still be taking that time off. I mean, what are they going to do, fire me? They've already told me I'm gone after the 31st.

On the other hand, there's a nonzero chance that the middleman company will tell me I'm done on the 19th when the rest of their staff is done, in which case it's all a moot point!

On the one hand, I have some stress to be back on the unemployment line. On the other hand, the relief of finally being done with the utter shenanigans that have started happening around here may exceed that stress by an order of magnitude. Seriously, some of the higher-ups could write books about being the most horrendous human beings.
A buddy of mine went through something similar a while back when he asked for a raise. They said no; he quit. After he left, the remaining staff & replacement hires proved inadequate to the task load his small group was handling. So they reached out to him to teach the n00bs his job.

Instead of the modest raise he asked for, they wound up paying him his severance pay PLUS his even higher teaching contractor fees. For months.

Make them an offer to be a hired gun while you’re looking for a new full time position.

I enjoy reflexive contrarianism as much as the next guy, but I don't think you actually mean it. I think this is just an act you're unable to drop.

Try discussing RPGs on a politics site and see what it gets you. (Probably doxxing and a personal discussion with a very confused Kash Patel.)
I could not disagree more - that’s the best place to discuss it! “Off topic” subforums are always the best and chillest. Never discuss RPGs on an RPG forum, politics on a politics forum, books on a books forum, and most importantly of all, never discuss anything on Reddit. Otherwise you’re just asking for a fight!

TBH, I kind of agree.

For the past 10+ years, I’ve pretty much only visited 3 forums on the web: ENWorld and a pair of music boards. On each one, I routinely participate in a large number of OT threads about fashion, cooking, art, books, and visual arts.

And- supporting your premise- on one of the music sites, I participate in a Tabletop Gaming thread, while here, I hit any music-related thread I see.

So, I was working in a retail store yesterday for my yearly holiday volunteer effort. There was this man at the Guest Service desk getting loud and angry. He was annoyed about out of stocks and how he would have to travel to another store to get what he needs. Complaining about how the store looks super nice but is going to go out of business becasue they don't stock enough.

Now, I can understand his complaint but berating a sales clerk for over 10 min about it isnt going to resolve anything. That shelf is not getting stocked, that person is not going to resolve it today or probably even tomorrow. Im not saying complaining is futile, but being angry and shouting isnt going to get you instant results.

The worst part, this man started tossing F bombs. A few and far between at first but by the end of his rant it was every other word. Him acting this way isnt unusual people unfortunately get this way, but he had an 8 year old daughter with him. She looked completely embarrassed and even to the point of being frightened by his behavior. :(

Sounds like he needed a banning. Try finding what you want when you're not even allowed into the store.
