Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

Really? I'm brutally ignorant on hardware, that seems crazy. I better back up my drive lol
Yes. There's a maximum Terabytes written, which sounds huge, but keep in mind that the application you're doing with the drive could potentially have a massive impact on lifespan. And I've seen some people who still optimize their SSDs, which is terrible because it's basically all read-writes.

It shocks me how few people (even in IT) are aware of this characteristic of SSDs, considering how much press it got in the technical magazines at the time they first showed up. I guess SSD companies have been successful in minimizing the bad press!

EDIT: Further info.

I was about to make a joke about this being the internet, but my heart just wasn't in it. Mutual respect seems more sustainable than sarcasm.
I just read [That Thread] where a newcomer to EN World somehow managed to get six warnings and a permaban in less than a month, because they couldn't grasp the concept of being polite in a public space.

It's such a low bar to clear. I have no idea how people mess that up, but here we are.

We had one guy who was using some application that wrote thousands of small files. His SSD got replaced, under warranty, twice in the first year.
