Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

"I wish I had not held that anger, you have to let things go or you just prevent yourself from doing what you know is right."
I was just discussing anger, grudges & repentance with a friend last night over dinner.

One thing I’ve noted: in a lot of true crime stories, the people who hold onto their hates & disappointments the longest & hardest often develop issues related to those feelings down the road- divorces, estrangements, alcoholism & substance abuse. Sometimes suicides. It’s like ugly seeds growing into awful trees.

So I actively try to minimize the amount & intensity of my grudges, but it’s a struggle. It occasionally surprises me how much “small stuff” I still “sweat”.

And sometimes holding a grudge is a defence mechanism because letting that person back in is tantamount to hitting a self destruct button.

There’s a difference between not holding onto a grudge and reconciliation. Just because you’ve let go of the anger at someone doesn’t mean you have to embrace them back into your life. It’s perfectly fine to say “I forgive you, but don’t come around here no more.”

(Not saying it’s EASY, but it’s valid.)

Yeah, no. Some things are unforgivable ;)
