Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

😂 I literally said On Bluesky, not here, you troublemaker!
Hey, "On Bluesky" is another generalization! It's turtles all the way down!

It's the problem that, in real life, there are no actual generalizations that don't have problems and introduce errors. Because every case is in some way unique and should be handled in its own specific fashion, but that's too complicated for our feeble monkey-brains to do so we have use generalizations and stereotypes to not be overwhelmed.

Get 1% done when you can, as often as you can. You'll realize that vision.

One of the most critical skills to develop in life is to learn to do things bit at a time. I've found it even more critical once I realized I have some degree of ADHD. You can get some pretty good work out as long as you just keep chipping.

Yes, mostly I was venting out of envy and frustration, I don't even have space for my own computer with my files right now as my house is in disarray.

BUT since I couldn't sleep I sat up and put some notes in my phone, so there's 0.1% of progress.

Maybe the food metaphor is just too close...

No, see, you don't need a car when you have pizza. Just thrown one on the ground, sit on it, and scoot around. Just as good as a car.

Nah, man, you don't need electricity when you have pizza. Just plug your computer into it, and blam. Just as good as electricity.

Of course someone will come along and describe an overly convoluted process by which you can desiccate a pizza, light it on fire, use the heat to boil water, use the steam to turn a turbine, and blam...electricity.

Think of it like a bar, or a social club. You can come in and mill about with the other people there but if you don't abide by the rules, they can eject you. Because it's a private establishment they can even do it for no reason at all, or if they just don't like you.

On Bluesky:

Person 1: I’m making a general statement about a broad group of people and why that makes them “part of the problem.”

Person 2: Oh, yeah I totally get that. Like I really hate it when they do this very specific thing. They’re the worst.

Person 1: Whoa, man. That’s what you got from my post?

Me reading all this: I’m shocked, SHOCKED, that your broad generalization got misinterpreted or co-opted for someone else’s point.

🤷‍♂️
so, i was reading a new article and it had this line: "older generations do often make sweeping generalizations about young people."

Ehhhh…

Most starchy foods are neutral enough in flavor that they’re interchangeable for a lot of culinary purposes.* I’ve had noodle dishes turned into baked potatoes, rice dishes served on noodles, bagels turned into pizzas, pizzas turned into pastas, potato dishes turned into sandwiches, etc.

Fun fact - pretzels with cheese sauce and marinara toppings are pizzas... Literally.

Pretzel dough is nothing more than pizza dough with extra sugar thrown in. When I worked at the mall rolling pretzels, twice we went to the pizza place at the other end to borrow dough mix from them.

You filthy casuals! All the cool kids are doing multidimensional ignore! I'm not just ignoring you here in this reality, but in all realities, no matter how far up the weirdness curve!

Um, yeah... I'll just stop typing now...

* in our kitchen, we call them “flavor delivery systems”
Once I tried making white bread ended with pizza
