So I fell down a rabbit hole of sci-fi and sci-fi adjacent 70s movies (because of the 70s sleepers thread) and ended coming to a few quotes from Quentin Tarantino about a couple of movies, mainly because if QT can say something about a movie, he absolutely will. And after all the stuff recently that he said about a number of actors, it’s impossible for me to ignore that QT is the worst kind of nerd - he’s the mean spirited nerd who became popular and then has spent much of his time attacking people he felt he could.
Writing about the 1977 Charles Bronson movie, Telefon, QT wrote: "just because the premise is nutty doesn’t mean it’s bad. In fact, it’s far out enough that in the right hands, it could have been a stone gas. But those right hands definitely didn’t belong to old fart Siegel, who blew the picture’s chance for success by de-emphasizing the kooky elements and emphasizing the dull ones. Siegel not only wasted his time, he wasted the Stirling Silliphant and Peter Hyams (who should have directed) script."
It’s like, man, you just come off as a mean, unlikable guy.
