Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

That was an accident. I hate that this is causing me to defend QT (because I also believe he's a massive flaky jerk) but he didn't personally have any hand in the destruction of the instrument. It was an accident on-set probably because the production didn't put in proper safeguards.
It's worse than that. He QT was fully aware that it was the actual loaned antique guitar in the scene. Reports from set stated that when the incident occurred he not only made zero move to stop it, but actually had a look of glee on his face as it was happening. Kurt Russel bears zero blame in the incident because he thought all along that it was one of the stand-in pieces.

I haven't watched anything that he's done since, nor will I going forward.

I don't know if any of that is actually true, though. Kurt doesn't bear any blame, sure, but I'm not so sure QT does. Q is a massive nerd for cultural artifacts. While he absolutely, no question, pushes questionable ideas past safety limits, I'm not so sure he'd allow the destruction of a 150-year-old guitar for the shock value. I've not seen any evidence brought out on this point beyond, "he's a dirt bag, of course he did it" which is the loosest of hearsay.

If you have evidence to the contrary beyond, "he sucks," please let me know! I already know he sucks, I'm just not willing to make this assumption based on said suckage.

As evidence of it goes, I have nothing beyond the interviews that were done, after the incident, with various people who were on-set. Russel, himself, stated that he didn't known that it was the original and that he didn't think that QT knew, however, the stated plan was to swap out the original before the smashing and the crew, and Jennifer Jason Leigh who reacted immediately to it being smashed, was aware it was the original. You can hear everyone on set react when it happened, as well.

Allow me to whine briefly:

I am 50 and have been surveying for over 25 years. I recently completed my Civil Engineering degree and have now failed the Professional Engineer exam twice. Ugh.

Ugh I say.

Now back to your regularly scheduled thread.
