Oh, I get that completely. I'm chronically at least 10 minutes early for anything. At least a half an hour for medical/dental appointments (which are always late anyway). I had a girlfriend who was consistently 1 hour late for everything, because she started getting ready at the scheduled time. I started telling her that events were an hour earlier than they really were and suddenly we were on time for everything. she never caught on.
