Player looking for a lowish-level D&D game

The title says it all. I've never done PbP before, but I've read up on it, and would really like to...it seems that all the games are filling up before I get a chance, so I thought I'd ask.

First, about me...
I've been playing PnP games since 1999. I've been playing regularly since late 2001, and I've DMed quite a few sessions since then. I'm right in the middle of the Roll/Role-playing spectrum, with perhaps a slight bent towards Roleplaying, except that the roles I like playing are typically heroic, so my characters usually have some optimization towards their primary goal (not crazy stuff like half-trolls, but taking power attack instead of toughness). So, enough about me...here's what I'm looking for;

As for a setting, any classic medieval fantasy (FR, Greyhawk, etc.) would be fine by me...FR is the only one that I have any of the 'necessary gear' for (books...books...and, well, books), so I don't think I'd be able to play any campaign in Kalamar, Dragonlance, or whatever. Homebrew is a plus, since it would be inherently new to me, and I wouldn't have to buy any books.

I don't really have interest in an evil campaign.

I'm willing to play just about any class and race, so long as I don't have to be a bard in a combat-heavy campaign. If given the chance, however, I would want to be a human ranger/barbarian (maybe fighter in there as well, maybe not) multiclass.

Short adventure or long campaign, I just want to do some roleplaying, character development, and maybe even a small degree of chopping of monsters into tiny bits.
******

So, any groups looking for players? Any DMs wanting to start such a campaign? Anybody think I'm being too picky?

Hey there,

I can't believe I beat creamsteak to this for once.

In addition to finding a games/games here, you should have a look at Living Enworld, our way-kewl RPG setting where characters can flow fromone DM's game to another, in and out of short adventures as well as longer ones.
Lots of character interaction as well.

I would first go to 'Guide to living ENWorld'.

After making a character (30 pt buy, from the DMG), post themin the character thread ( at the top of the LEW threads), then post an 'Entrance' in the current Red Dragon Inn thread (also near the top). Other players will greet you, and DMs will advertise adventures, and from there it is an easy jump in.

Puget Sound. There's quite a few of us gamers here on the island...in fact, the group I DM for is a little too big; it's seldom that we can all (or even most of us) get together for a game, hence my need for some PbP gaming.

Here's a handy visual aid...

Its not listed as recruiting but there are some options in my the nameless - the seventh from seven campaign. Its a fairly conventional medieval fantasy homebrew setting. Its low-low level - the characters started at level 1 in an NPC class. They are however, pretty close to leveling up. Access to PC classes is dependent on some form of in setting exposure and narative logic. But a number are looking to become druids and rangers, so there will probably be opportunities to go in that direction. As well as for monster munching.

I currently have one in-party NPC that I would like to see taken over

Lisa human female warrior 1.
Abilities: Str 15, Dex 17, Con 16, Int 13, Wis 15, Cha 14
Skills: Climb 2/+4, Handle Animal 2/+4, Intimidate 2/+4, Jump 2/+4, Ride 2/+4, Swim 2/+4, Knowledge (military) 2/+4
Feats: Combat Expertise, Improved Trip.
Equipment: Quarterstaff, Knife, Sling, 10 bullets.
*5'10" in bare feet, she is the daughter of the Captain Commander of the Townguard.

There is the option of slotting in another character, but I would prefer to avoid going down that path at the moment.

Take a look around the IC and OOC threads (you can access then through my sig below) and see what you think. If your interested, post up in the OOC thread.

Galethorn, I may have what you're looking for. I'm planning on starting up a previous game that had fizzled due to slow posting times. I'm going to pare down the game to two PCs...if you want to be one of them, watch for the DREAMING BEYOND REASON thread starting up here soon.

I just want to add that I'm looking for a low-level game to get into as well. I could create a Living ENWorld character, it does sound interesting... I just need to come up with an idea for a character. I've been playing a human ranger in a "real" (face-to-face) campaign, so I don't want to play anything like that.

I really want to play a UA battle sorcerer, but I don't know if I'll be able to find a game that will allow one. Or a bard/fighter or paladin or cleric I suppose (the idea being a religious chanter/warrior), strange as that might sound. I guess I could create a bard in LEW and work towards multiclassing.
