Please help me develop a wildshape related feat

Yep. Another darned Wildshape thread.

My DM & I are trying to create a feat I can take that will allow me extrordinary abilities such as scent and other such things that aren't allowed from basic wildshape. However, we need help making it fair for both of us. Can someone help me put together a feat (and word it) so that it is fair and useful to use a feat slot on, but not overpowering (i.e. lets me chain lightning myself to health as a shambling mound when I hit 12th level)?

I'd very much appreciate the help.

How about a feat that just lets you take one Ex ability of the form you wildshape into. You'll usually be ending up with stuff like Scent or Pounce, both of which are about as powerful as feats and may even be available as feats depending on your race and such. If you take the feat more than once, you can gain an additional Ex power for each time you have the feat (3 feats = 3 Ex abilities). Call it Exceptional Wildshape or something like that.

You might want to check out Complete Divine, which should be out anytime. It is supposed to have a bunch of new wild feats that enhance you in it; it might have exactly what you're looking for.

Yeah, I actually went to MotW first, as I figured it would be in there. I didn't see anything about it. I was surprised, really.
Well, you are right.. there isn't one feat to give you all EX abilities... but there is a Scent feat... a Blindsight feat... etc. One feat for all these is probably to much... depending on the shape of course.

I dunno.... Those feats give you that ability all the time. I don't really want that. I'd prefer to (and it would be more in character for my Druid to) have the specific traits of the animals he changes into. Granted, it is more powerful that way... but I'm in the camp of people who do think that being able to wildshape into a cheetah that can't sprint really is pretty lame.

I don't know that I'd need all the extrordinary abilities in each form. I kinda like Greatwyrm's suggestion.

So it sounds like you are looking to do a partial wildshape. You want the feat to able to grant different Ex-Abilities without taking the full form?

There are several out there in supplemental books which relate to partial shifts.

My GM and I have a EPIC feat which grants partial shifting of body parts which grant the Ex abilities associated with that part. For example if I shifted to the head of a beast which had the scent ability I gained that Ex ability.

No.. not really. I don't think I'd ever use that. I'm pretty much always going to take the full form.
