Help me price these, por favor:

Potion of Resilience: +2 enhancement bonus to natural armor, DR 4/-, lasts for d10 minutes

Potion of Invulnerability: +5 enhancement bonus to natural armor, DR 10/-, lasts for d10 minutes

Javelin of Lightning: Does 5d6 shock damage (no save) on a hit (yes, this is slightly different than the lame DMG version, in which the javelin actually turns into a lightning bolt), one-use.

Javelin of Piercing: Acts as a +6 weapon, no range increment, double-damage on a hit, one-use.

Trenton Joe's MAgic Item calculator says:

The Javelin of Piercing is worth as much as the DMG javelin of lightning: 750 GP. YOu end up doing 3d6 less damage buuut you are +6 to hit and there is no save.

Your javelin of lightning would be similar to a potion cost for a 5th level casters lightning bolt (3*5*50= 750)+ the price of the javelin(300) whch equals 1,050. I figure the reduced range and need to hit cancels out the no save part.

I would put your potions at a

1,800 (the lesser one looks like a 4th level spell to me)
and

6,000 (the bigger one looks like an 8th level spell)

Good luck!

The percing's gotta cost more. the lightning bolt has a range, the piercer does not. Also some creatures are resistant to lightning. far fewer creatures are resistant to a +6 piercing weapon.

Also, you don't add your strength to the lightning weapon. I'd say 1,200 to 1,500. It's almost a bead of force, but not quite.

The javelin of piercing has to hit . . . and, assuming an 18 Str for no reason whatsoever, does around 27pts of damage a hit.

An arrow +5 fired from a mighty bow +1 will do around 14pts of damage a hit -- but it's a lot easier to fire multiple arrows in a round.

Hmmm. Yeah, I think maybe 1000gp sounds about right.

Re the potions -- do you really think 6000gp for the Potion of Invulnerability? That seems a bit steep . . . but yeah, giving someone a +5 (stackable) enhancement bonus to natural armor along with DR 10/- is probably an 8th level spell. Certainly at least a 7th level spell, so min price of around 5000gp.

Clearly, TrentonJoe's Magic Item calculator is something I'll have to take advantage of in the future!

a single +5 arrow is 1,007 GP, BTW, and is effectively one use.

The javelin is arguably more likely to hit, and does not require a mighty bow for the STR damage, and can be thrown by anybody skilled in simple weapons (as opposed to having to have martial weapon prof (or be a twinky elf)).

FWIW, I am so yoinking the piericer, but I am going to charge just a leeetle more than a +5 arrow (wink). I'll go 1,300 GP and see how it shakes out

hack!

Of course, with GMW around, no one actually BUYS +5 arrows :). But 1,300 doesn't seem unreasonable. Technically, bcs it's a +6 weapon (just bcs of 1E nostalgia) it's an Epic Weapon and should technically go for oodles and oodles and oodles of $$.
