podcast: 4th edition combat too long

Well, from where I'm sitting--which is, consequently, where I watched the podcast--it was quite clear that cycling through initiatives more rapidly did not in fact generate nail-biting electric tension. People just locked into a rut of mashing their hotkey. They were grinding against monsters whose defenses far exceeded the players' damage output.

Actually, you have a point, I've ran into the 'mash the hotkey' thing in my own games as well to a certain extent, and I'm currently brainstorming about how it get around it.

It also didn't help that the room/board was literally a solid gray square =/ Or at least that's what came across on the screen, I know there were some kind of water channels and stairways or something, but oh well.

Also, I think this was indeed recorded some time ago and meant to come out a lot sooner since the DM at the beginning makes a comment about how they luckily have some early-release PHBs or something. Not so early release unless this all took place a good while ago!

I certainly hope so.
Let's see it then. Let's see everyone in this thread who has picked apart this latest podcast post a video blog of their next session, so we can all bask in the radiance of their D&D godliness.

How many people will take up that challenge?

As it happens, I've just listened to about 15 minutes of a recording of a session I ran the day before yesterday (audio only).

Man, did we sound like inarticulate dorks.

I'd love to see a session or two of Shelly's Confessions... group at play. Just sneak a webcam into a corner of the conference room unannounced, with microphones stashed under the table or something, then get them to sign whatever waivers after the fact... ;)
I would be interested, too. Of course, that book is a fictionalized account, not an account meant to capture the actual events of play or the actual personalities at the table.

Noonan cracked me up. Were there some serious tactical errors? Sure. But I enjoyed watching it. Only thing I disliked was the terrible editing where they redid stuff.

But to be clear, I think it looked like they were having fun, so successful game, if you ask me.

"I declare him to be my prey." Best line.

Well, audio only, as I've said.

There's this, however, from some previous session: our DM (from the Eberron game) and me.

You are the "Follonero"!
A character from a Spanish show.
