Huh? What does that mean, exactly? Are we talking "you can use these three times a day to set your strength to 24 for a round" or something?
I bet it will do something much more interesting. Such as increasing your carrying/lifting capasity, or allowing you 3/day to punch hard enough to shatter stone, Or allowing you to crush diamonds in your hands, or that kinda thing.

These are the kinds of items I have wanted all along! Sooooo much more interesting than +2 Str... Blah!

Probably something like 3/day "You can grab someone by the shirt and throw them twelve squares" or "You can punch a hole in a wall" or "Lift a wagon".

Well, I found that podcast to be lamentably boring.

After the last podcast back in November which told me some stuff about 4e I was hoping that this one would pull some of the curtains just a little wider, but it basically just mentioned some things which we already knew and gave one snippet of new information (the lack of ability booster magic items).

What a shame that there wasn't anything more interesting at this point in the production of 4e.

Is increasing your carrying capacity more interesting than increasing your Strength, or just less useful?

I could see the point if they let you make powerful attacks a few times a day or something, though, I guess.

I agree. I was expecting far more from this podcast, espicially considering the lack of a December podcast.

They 'don't want to have ability score changes halting game play'. Have we heard anything about ability score damage? I seem to recall something, but if so I forget what. In any case it may be safe to assume that ability drain/damage is gone too.

I would say more interesting, and here's why. In 2E, gauntlets of ogre power gave you 18/00 str. So even if you were a puny weakly with 6 str, suddenly you could do amazing things.

In 3E, if you had 6 str, now you had *gasp* 8 str. Big whoop. But in theory, they could make those guantlets give you the carrying capasity of 25 str. It would be neat to be able to carry another party member on your back, or to be able to move large rocks or whatever. While I would hope that the abilities would be better/more interesting than carry capasity, Carry Capasity is still FAR more useful than a flat +2 str.
