Not exactly new news. It's been talked about for months now.

The ratings decline has been, yes. This "new change in direction" is new to me though.

I think it's kind of a shame to see Enterprise do so badly. I think it's pretty good and has a lot of potential.

I think a lot of blame can be laid on the fact that the show is on UPN. That's a non-network that doesn't even have nationwide coverage, so it's going to be very hard for them to get ratings. Maybe the show might have done better in syndication. Who knows?

It would be a big improvement if they detach ENTERPRISE from and remove elements associated with Star Trek.
It would probably just die quicker. I bet a healthy chunk of the audience watches it just because it is Trek.

I do think it being on UPN is an issue, to agree with others. It just doesn't have the exposure that the other networks do. I would have liked to have seen it in syndication. I always liked having Trek on the weekends...

And as for this being new about the direction and all, I haven't heard a peep about it until now. * shrugs *

I've heard about the new direction, but only recently, and have to say I'm very excited about it. Something needs to shake up this show since ratings for the previous Trek incarnations have declined so steadily. Saving the Earth is a bit cliched, but what the heck.

They'd probably do a whole lot better if they just got it through their heads to do original stories instead of tired rehashes of the same ST plots we've seen in the three other shows.

For starters, absolutely NO MORE "two people lost/stranded in a shuttlecraft" stories.

NEW stories.

new STORIES.

NEW STORIES!

NOT the same old TOS or DS9 scripts dusted off and reworked for Enterprise.

Oh, and have some balls. TOS did an interracial kiss. Now they seem to be terrified of breaking new ground.
