There was that portion of the program when they mentioned retailers carrying product simply based off of having some old-school TSR designer's name on it. And then when on to discuss the arrogance of said old-schooler publishing product for a system without bothering to learn its rules. I wonder if that was specifically and exclusively targeted at Jim Ward.
I haven't had a chance to listen to the podcast yet.

I wish I lived in an area where the retailers have heard of Gary Gygax, let alone Jim Ward.

(They have, of course, heard of Roger Moore :) )

I'd have thought it was more the fault of customers buying stuff based on Jim Ward's name, rather than retailers stocking it.

Actually, I think the problem is that customers didn't buy it, so the stuff ended up staying on the shelves, leading retailers to (incorrectly) say "well, D20 is worthless, let's not stock any more."

In the end, it's the retailers who got fooled and then got left holding the bag.

Fortunately, with the 4E D20 license, we at least have some indications as to who will be doing good work (Necromancer, Paizo, Green Ronin, Malhavoc, Kenzer, Sword & Sorcery, Ronin Arts, if all of them jump back in the pool this time), so hopefully customers (and retailers) won't get burned as badly or as often this time around.

Huh. Really? I never once imagined it was "N World." I've always thought of it as "EE EN."

"N" World for me since day 1. And Green "Row-nin." And "drow" is like "crow" for me too, not "cow." :)

Besides the pronunciation of Ronin, I was also caught off guard by Pray-mas instead of Prah-mas, but it wasn't quite as much of a surprise since it's a personal name and not a word I though I had known for years. Anyhow, interesting listen, thanks Chris & Erik.

Drow rhymes with bow and row. Anything else is heresy and the fiend doing it wrong needs to be severely chastized.
Bow, like take a bow.
Bow, like shoot a bow.
Row, like row a boat.
Row, like it noisy row.

Brilliant!
