Joe! Any thoughts about grabbing the 4E DMG and doing an update of MMS:WE, based on the new (if there are new) demographics?

I still have one chapter to write before we were going to release the 2nd edition of MMS:WE. Right now we're taking a wait and see attitude towards 4e so "I don't know" is the answer to your question. Not very satisfying, but there ya go... :)

You know, even though Mongoose had some stuff that was questionable mechanically, some stuff that had good mechanics and some stuff that had terrible mechanics, their fluff was almost always good (for me).

I liked a lot of what they produced. I can fix the broken stuff for my own game, but the wellspring of ideas I got from many of their titles worked wonders for my campaign, and fun was had for all.

Mongoose probably had too much product - but the reviews on the mongoose stuff (IIRC) was mostly average (3 stars). The reviews on the FFE stuff were often 1 or 2 stars. Especially with the benefit of hindsight, the FFE stuff seems to be by far the worst of the lot because not only were they poor products, but there was a LOT of it in a short time (both titles and quantity per title).

Man, this thread has gone off the rails. Maybe we could discuss the actual content of the podcast. There were some things that were news to me.

1) It sounds like Freeport may be featured in the campaign setting for Pathfinder.
2) GR is going to provide True20 stats for Pathfinder.
3) GR is probably going to do a 4E Freeport Companion. This is interesting because in a different thread Chris Pramas said they'd still be publishing a 3.5 Freeport Companion. This ought to make everyone happy.

After more than twelve hours with no replies, I guess that's a pretty resounding "no". :(

I missed that. That'll be, what, the third world with a place carved out for Freeport? (Not counting books like Redhurst that aren't a full setting themselves.) Pretty darn cool.

I think that's been said before, but it's nice to have it officially restated.

Depending on how much changes with prestige classes, I bet a lot of the 3E Companion could just be reused, so it shouldn't have a huge turnaround time. It'd be great to see it out by GenCon 2008.
