Prestige class for bard/swashbuckler

GilaMonster

First Post
A friend of mine is looking for a prestige class for one of her characters. I've looked through the books and I can't find anything particuarly fitting. Suggestions welcome.

The char is a human Bard 2/Swashbuckler 5.
I don't know all stats, dex is about 17, int 14, wis 9, chr 16. She wields an elven thinblade. More interested in combat capabilities than bardic abilities.

Other than the Eberron books, I have access to pretty much everything. However, please mention anything good from Eberron, I may be able to borrow books

Thanks

I'd go with 2 levels of fighter or martial rogue (variant in UA) before the prc. Both of these will give her 2 fighter bonus feats to augment her combat capabilities. You do get the better hp with Fighter, but the armor feats are somewhat useless to the character. The martial rogue is good in that the character will get the 2 fighter bonus feats and evasion. In either case the extra 2 fighter bonus feats will help with qualifying for combat oriented prcs later on.

thanks,
Rich

Thanks. I'll suggest that to her. I was also thinking a level or 2 or fighter would be useful.

You're welcome. Personally, I'd go with the martial rogue for the better number of skills, still get two fighter bonus feats and there is better lightly armored combatant synergy with the evasion ability.

What that char needs is a damage boost. Either go ftr4 with Weapon spec (if multiclassing isn't a problem) or rogue or scout for sneak/skirmish. Duelist might be an option though the class and it's Int bonus to AC isn't that great... Elven thinblade counts as slashing as well? Dervish.

Mine went Assassin as my INT is a lil higher than yours. If you take more lvls in a sneak attack class, i would suggest Staggering Strike as the DC is the damage dealt. Forces only a move action or standard action until next round.

That's a cool site! I do like the Bearer of the Ancestral Weapon prc! BTW, couldn't find the Dashing Swordsman feat?

thanks,
Rich
Dashing Swordsman is a PrClass. It's more a joke though. A good one.

Thanks for all the suggestions

Duelist is one I've looked at. She's not too keen on loosing armour. Also, I'm not dure if it's better than levels of swashbuckler or not. Will check

Thinblade is piercing only. It's esentially a rapier with longsword damage dice.

Assassin's not an option, due to alignment and character considerations. Am considering other types of precision damage.

I wish the Dashing Swordsman was a real PrC, as it would fit her perfectly. ;)

To give an idea, the rest of the party at the moment is as follows (all level 7)
Dwarven fighter aiming for Dwarven Defender
Human cleric going for divine disciple and contemplative
Human wizard going for spellsword and eldrich knight
Human rogue
