I don't recall any, but I may have missed an encounter or two. It would be fairly easy to substitute a couple in. Even easier to add in a Side Trek with a few of them. As the PCs start messing with the Temple, the Temple messes right back; you could swap out one of the retaliatory strikes with some fire giants. That's exactly what I'm looking for. Are there any fire giants in that Imix scenario or branch of the fire cult?
Don't know where you heard that, but it is split into chapters. I don't have it in front of me, but the very first chapter is an outline of the adventure, including organizations and how they fit in; then there's the intro, designed to get PC's to level 2 or 3; then the adventure proper; then a bunch of optional encounters and side-treks (love this), then all the additional rules material (much of which you'll have seen in the free PDF), then some final words on situating the adventure in other campaigns. The adventure itself is meaty, but a surprising amount of the book is taken up with supplemental resources.Sounds promisingThanks for the reviews guys. This may be the first published D&D adventure I buy in years!
I'm curious about PotA's table of contents, layout, and organization. Would anyone with the book be willing to share their thoughts or a summary? Specifically, I have heard that it's not designed with the usual "chapters" associated with other D&D adventures that are used to break up the action. Which makes me wonder how Rich Baker & Sasquatch Games organized this 256 page beast!
The open-endedness is a real strength of the adventure.
That being said, there are several things I think I'm going to have to troubleshoot:
1. The vague threat and non-involvement of the Elder Elemental Eye.
2. Lack of interesting friendly and faction NPCS through most of the module.
3. lack of variety in dungeon setting.
There is a lot of variety in the dungeon. Its just a megadungon a bit dungeon you keep coming back to.
I find there are enough NPCs even if they are not fleshed out a lot. You can do that yourself.
The Elder Elmental Eye is supposed to be vague and unknown.
