D&D 5E Princes of the Apocalypse Hits the Shelves!

I'm all in favor of the Elder Elemntal Eye remaining a vague uknown mystery to players or to most of NPCs in the adventure. It shouldn't be so to the DM.

It's always been an unknown even to the DM's they in 3rd edition they decided to say it was Tharizdun, but this adventure has decided to go with it just being an evil force bringing up in the Greyhawk section you could say it is Tharizdun.

I personally prefer it as an unknown to everyone. Nothing knows what it is.

Does anything happen in the town of Conyberry?
It's also on the Starter Set map and my players are probably going to pass through there on their way to a quest.

There is an entire chapter in the book devoted to side-quests so as to break up the monotony of the super-dungeon. I couldn't say as of yet whether these side-quests are actually EFFECTIVE at doing so...but they exist.

I think part of the reason for this is because 1) specific entities also tend to be setting-specific and 2) uncovering mysteries and deceptions is a major theme of this particular adventure. That said, PotA makes it seem VERY LIKELY to me that Ghaunadaur will be the ultimate villain in the default, Forgotten Realms setting. There is a shrine to Ghaunadaur within the Elder Elemental Eye's temple...the deity shares certain symbological and thematic similarities to the Elder Elemental Eye...the Fane of the Elder Elemental eye was built by drow (with whom worship of Ghaunadaur is frequently associated) and PotA states that the next book will focus on the drow...

I'm planning on porting PotA into my campaign and I most definitely do NOT have drow in my world. Is this going to be an issue?

Conyberry is a ruin. There's a banshee named Agatha who lives nearby and acts as an oracle to anyone who brings her something shiny.

I don't think any actual drow enemies or characters appear in the adventure so no. If there are any they are most certainly replaceable with some other subterranean race. (Drow figure in the backstory for some of the dungeons, but they could easily be transmuted into something else). Will have to see how Masters turns out, though.
