Problem solved, please ignore...

The implication wasn't as severe as sabotage, but I thought it might have been part of the agreement you reached with WOTC to include a modification to 'correct' the use of non-SRD material, Leo. Hard to tell. The lack of information, which I assume is to let WOTC put their ducks in a row, but is also emblematic of their usual stifling of information, didn't help much either.

Well let me ease your mind...

Yes there are changing going on to the code and list files, yes these will most likely break older list files, but the end result is more control for the end user to edit/add their own custom campaign material or their private ownership of the non-SRD materials.

There are plans after getting the code OGL/D20 complaint to add an actual list editor (has been for a while, but it's always taken back seat to bug fixing and other critical code) to make life easier to add/modify list files.

WotC has not been the 'Evil Big Brother Corporation' everyone has been painting them as, they have not 'squashed us with the Iron Fist of Oppression' either.. they ARE looking out for their IP/PI interests and that is perfectly understandable. I regret that we had to be so out of bounds (damn us for not being lawyers. Or is that bless us? ;p) to get their attention, but hey, we have dialog now and we CAN make PCGen _completely_ OGL & D20 compatible (and to ANYONE who says we can't, just watch, we were almost there code wise to start with, data files have been the issue with WotC).

As for the silence bit, we haven't been silent, and I have posted updates AS PROMISED when I have said I would... We do have a press release coming out today, but that time frame does depend on Wizards, as we are making it a joint kinda announcement (I wrote it myself, they want to add bits to it, and if I don't like what they add, I'll edit it again and send it back to them. No 'Press Release' will come from the PCGen team unless we agree with it!)...

So I hope this assuages some of your concerns!

BTW, to the original question, the 2.6+ files wouldn't work with version 2.7+ due to a format change that occured around 2.7.1.
