Project Sigil is the upcoming 3D VTT from WotC. From various Gen Con reports --
  • Creative Mode lets you prep on the fly or modify pre-made content
  • Assets from Baldur's Gate 3 are included, such as the characters as digital miniatures
  • Minis have multiple poses but are not animated
  • Spells are animated though
  • Uses Unreal Engine 5 (or 4, I've seen different reports)
  • Launch on PC, mobiles and consoles later
  • Closed Beta this fall--sign up here
  • DDB subscribers will have greater access

This is the 'creative mode' toolbox, apparently!

I haven't seen word on what the hardware requirements will be.
Nor is there any info on which OS they'll build for. I HOPE that they build for ChromeOS as so many <18s in the US have Chromebooks due to school

Wouldn't be surprised if they start with Windows and then add others. It will be interesting to see if (hopefully just a "when") there are "downgrades" on visuals available so that it can be run on lower end hardware like chrome books.

If it doesn't allow some form of asset import to cover custom or non-MM monsters, I suspect this will be DOA.
I doubt it would be DOA. Having minis for MM and MotM covers a large selection of critters, you are likely to find something that can be a stand-in. Maybe even add Fizban and Bigby... Doesn't mean there won't be some kind of import though

Yes we do. They've stated that it can be system neutral. That's what you meant, right?
sure you keep believing that, just like when they said they wouldn't do the very thing they are doing now, lol. At some point, they will stop making books and farm it out but add stuff via paid sub to their tabletop or D&D beyond.
