Protections for a high level wizard?

The Magnificent Mansion trick is hard to pull off long-term. You can hide in it for a short period, but no wizard is going to want to move all his stuff outside every day, wait for the mansion to collapse, and move it all back in again.

It comes furnished, and it's dissmissable. No need to wait for it to collapse, and the only stuff the wizard needs to be packing/unpacking is the stuff he uses routinely - the rest can be stored in, say, a Secret Chest; Shrink Item and Permanency can help if the Wizard has a lot to store.

If it's a warrior, sure, just pack your sword and your armor and you're done. But a wizard needs a lot of stuff. Books (lots of books), lab equipment, spell components, magic circles, possibly demonic pets - a whole crapload. Not all of it is portable. It would be a pain to move it every day. And permanent shrink item costs xp. lots of xp, because he'll be doing it a LOT.

I have a question which is related to this topic (which is why I didnt start another thread). What would a high level enemy Wizard (say level 15-18) do who was caught unaware and the players were running an Anti-Magic Field?

For example, lets take a stereotypical dungeon, that has a plethora of rooms, halls, caves, etc. The party enters a small room and encounter a high level Wizard. The party Wizard casts Anti-Magic Field, either during the fight, at the beginning of the fight or before entering the room (e.g. they somehow detected the Wizard in the room ahead of time).

Whatever the lead up is, the scenario involves a high level Wizard trapped in a small room facing a group of 4-5 adventurers, but is unable to cast spells or use magic because of the Anti-Magic or move, because he is surrounded. How would he handle this?

Yeah, at 15th level I really wouldn't want to commit my one-and-only 8th level slot to mind blank all the time.
True, but then I would never have a non-specialist wizard, so he would never only have a single 8th level spell.

I would first curse the wizard's stupidity for getting into that predicament in the first place. Then, I would exercise the carefully prepared escape plan in the case that it ever happens. If none was prepared, I'd make one up on the spot.

He better put on a big smile and get ready to lie his head off until he can make a break for it. "No, I can help you..."

If the party knows who he is and are there to kill him, he should just strait run and hope he can survive the AoO.

He would wink out... illusions cannot exist in antimagic. ;)
