PS2, how do you get it online?

So, a friend of mine picked up a used PS2 and tried to play Burnout something or another online, and was told he needed a disc and a memory card.

He got the newer slim version so he has the online adaptor built in, so my question to you guys is, what else does he need to make it work?

I think that's it. My slim version came with the PS2 network starter disc, and a memory card to save your network settings (and, of course, an ethernet cable connecting to a router or however he networks in his house).

Other than that, you just need to know your ISP's particulars.

(As an aside, though: since I generally hate online, I haven't bothered to use it. But I did read all the instructions...)
