Psychic Warrior vs. Fighter

But aren't they there at this point?

Which only helps them simulate being a good class, not actually be one. They go through and pick out the most powerful feats they can just to try to actually be in the ball game.

Much like if a mage has to go through and pick out the most overpowered/broken spells he can find from a few dozen sources just to keep up in whatever game he is in. (can happen, some games are dead set against casters in numerous ways)

As I said, comparing PHB only, the fighter wins 100% over the psychic warrior. ;)

So in a comparison of two classes if you ignore the book that one of the classes is in then the other wins? Nope, 'fraid not, because then there can be no comparison. Comparing anything to an empty set yeilds no results.

Or, for added sillieness, if we only compare the monstrous manual only then both lose, or just tome and blood, or just pages 176 and 121, or this air molecule to that one over there.

I saw a barb halfling ranged fighter.. bows and daggers.. he was a rough little guy ;) Had a bow he couldnt use unless he was in his rage..lol

Fighters tend to wear heavier armors, but then the barb can have a higher dex bonus so that makes up for part of the difference.

Also, Barbs will be absorbing some damage (DR #/-) along with being immune to flanking most of the time. That gives them another advantage.

So, with the fighter wearing heavy armor so that their ac is higher, the barb moves twice as fast, is immune to flanking, and absorbs some damage.

Oh, and the barb has listen to help him not be surprised as often. That counts for quite a bit right there.

By spending 3 feats the fighter matches output of the beginning barbs rage, but only for one specific weapon. If the fighter has to keep putting out 3 feats to keep up with a single feat spent by the barb... even the fighter doesnt have that many feats.
Barb DR is nice, but it's not like a fighter can't get DR gear, such as dwarven plate. So that's a false analogy. Barbas do tend to have a higher Dex, but they always have a lower AC, especially when raging. But hey, why don't you head over to my smackdown thread and disprove my claim that fighters don't suck? Do it with numbers. Show me data, not opinion, and I might be convinced by your argument.

Of course I am a proponet of adamantine armor dr and barb dr stacking, it seems silly for them not to. Sortof like someone falling off of a cliff and having an acceleration downwards and having a rocket on their back pointing up accelerating them downwards and yet the two not being additive. Or, in more d&d terms, like having armor and shield not both stack for AC.

Still though, mithril full plate (medium armor, I have seen the debates over whether it counts as what, but benefit of the doubt here ;) ) vs adamantine full plate. Looks like barb will have the same ac and lower penalties to skills with the barb able to still have a higher DR.

I might head over to the smackish thread later if I have time, or dig up some of the old comparison threads on this board and others.

Barb can't wear mithral full plate unless he has heavy armor proficiency or multilclasses into fighter, paladin, or cleric. So a straight barb would have to burn a feat to wear mithral fulll plate.

Like I said in the part that you quoted I know there are debates on the issue but my example gave the benefit of the doubt. (it is the part in quotes btw)
