Putting Down a Cat

My condolences, Jester. I've had to have at least 3 pets put to sleep, and it's a painful moment each time. My best advice for anyone doing so is not to get another pet immediately - give some time to heal somewhat, because in my experience, getting a newborn pet immediately afterward brings up more bad memories than making good ones, and I'd hate to deprive myself of the new-pet glow period when they are still six weeks old. :D

Several years ago, right after the loss of a dear kitty, I found the album A Cat-Shaped Hole In My Heart.

Somehow it helped me through.

Losing a friend like this is always terrible. I shall light a candle Apparatchik tonight. :(

Hey guys, both Sam and I (and poor dead Aparatchik :() thank you for your well-wishes.

It was very quick and peaceful, and it really was for the best... but I miss my cat buddy. :(

Jester, we all feel your loss. In our hearts we see Aparatchik up in kitty heaven, happily "playing" with those damn rabbits from Watership Down. :)

I dunno, I kinda got attached to a few of our fur-covered mouse traps over the years. ;)
For you city folks...when DJ says "attached" what he really means is "I had to pry the walking meat grinders off of my leg with a crowbar and immediately apply a tourniquet". :D

Actually, it was just emergency stitches. I had an emergency cat-remover called a labrador retriever. :p

My deepest sympathies.

I had to put down my cat on the 29th as well. It was the right thing to do, but deep down, it tears at me ti think about not seeing her as I walk in the house.

If Apparatchik runs into my Guenwhyvar, perhaps they can roll a couple of dice together for fun. (I can't even think about playing right now because of the dice involved :( )

Take care.
