Question for those who buy PDFs.

I've printed a few pdfs. Ink & Quill, and Enchiridion where the two largest.

Enchiridion had a horrible cover, and consisted of a ton of black. Lucky for me, I print these things at work.

I like color covers, but the interiors should be b/w.

The color cover gives me something to look at when I hole-punch it and stick it in a clear-cover binder.

For the inside, stick to simple borders, and keep the color to a minimum, and no complex art. Because I will usually print the interior using a two-sided printer, and only with black and white.

BTW, I just d/l'd the "dozen free spellbooks" from rpgnow, though it is still in "processing" status for some weird reason. I'll probably be picking up the 101 mundane treasures. Sounds intriguing.

I hope you enjoy them both. Don't forget that you can grab THE CURSED TEMPLE and get another free spellbook that is taken from 101 Spellbooks. And don't miss the free books on my site.

Thanks.

I prefew fewer graphics. I would rather have a shorter document to print, and all the extra graphics add time/expense to the process. I like your 2nd release, Phil, better than the first. I prefer to put as little extra printing in the page, as possible.

The third one is even simpler in design. If you have it, do you like that better? I think 101 Mundane Treasures is a nice balance between the extremes.

My biggest problem is I want to use lots of color and make everything flashy (like I did with Transhuman Space). I have to keep reminding myself that people are downloading and printing these.

I like the latest, the best

Nice and simple. Some really nice art dabbled about, but not a lot. Nice and simple layout, not much extra cost in printing. I thought it was was very good. The best of the 3, in my opinion. Some great ideas in there, though, I think I will probably modify some stuff, more so than the previous 2.

As for the book of templates. The font was a little abnormal, but it was still easy to read. I am very happy with that one, as well. Could be better, but it is very functional. I will take function over form, pretty much any day of the week.

Rifter, I know many folks have stood agape at the "wacky" font I elected to use for the Book of Templates. That will be fixed soon so that people can have a more "normal" typeface to read (Berylium, anyone?). But please email me privately and let me know what you'd like to see improved or added to the BoT. We need feedback so we can give the people what they want :)

BTW, there will be an enhanced version of the BoT for Christmas with lots of extra bells and whistles. Just let us know what you'd like included. The email is silverthornegames@yahoo.com. Just drop us a line or two. We respond fast. Really!

Sorry to have digressed a bit. Anyway, the Phil Reed stuff is very nicely-presented. I like the art and the pleasing colour schemes quite well. But, I don't often print off PDFs, either, so I have no clue on how they would print with all the background images, etc. I'd tend to agree with other folks on this thread, though. Substance over form. In Reed's case, both are present. Great stuff.

Cheerio!

Wow. Thanks for the compliment.
