Races of Destiny: The Illumians?

It has the coolest domain evar in it: the City domain. OMFG it is so cool. If you're already considering getting the book, I'd say the City domain alone is worth half the price. Unfortunately when I looked at it I didn't care for the rest (but then, I am not real big on having tons of new races all up in my game).
Coupled with the City-Bonded Urban Soul (which I'm keen on), you got yourself an uber powered Batman. ;)

I know it's prob said and done, but I wanted to add my two cents into this thread.

Illumian, when used properly, is an amazing race. I used it awhile back for an Archivist build. Now, Archivist spell DC's and spells cast are based on Intelligence, while bonus spells per day are based on Wisdom. All fine and dandy, however, I also wanted to melee. Str, Con, Int, Wis. MAD through and through. Slapped on Illumian, added Half-Dragon and took symbols Aesh and Krau, thus making my Str determine my bonus spells instead of Wisdom.

In situations such as this, Illumian is one of the stronger races in the game with no LA. Purely situational however, but it's worth looking into and not shoving to the side as useless. Personally for me, was the greatest part of Races of Destiny.

I eventually went RKV, and became the ultimate melee healer. Then again, Archivist alone are better at melee then melee classes so not to surprising to begin with :P

I find it surprising the Illumian can have so many boons yet no drawbacks such as Level Adjustment. The only negative I note is a -4 to saves versus glyph/rune/sigil/symbol spells, and that's only if your Lvl is lower than the CL of the spell, otherwise you're immune. It seems a bit overpowered, but what the heck, a lot of fun with all the customizing options. Will need to consider looking in-depth into the book when I finally break from the Core books of 3.5 (along with all the other books I have). :heh:

They are like humans in terms of having no drawbacks. Are the bonuses they get better than a feat and skill point per level? I'd think not, given the hoops you have to jump through to get them.
