1 or 2 of the PrCs brought over from the splat books into FR have different requirements (generally deity related), but power-wise, stays the same.

IMO, it's looks to be an interesting book. I'm currently playing a Rashemi human in an online FR game, and it'll be interesting to flesh out some of the customs/dress/etc. that wasn't in the FRCS.

The Tome and Blood version was screwed up. A revised and corrected version was later posted online as errata. Maybe they are just putting the fixed one into print.

Or maybe they are expanding the weapon options beyond long swords...as I recall, the original version (2ed) could specialize in any weapon.

Something to use with your Snakestrike Duellist mini...

That's the theory I saw confirmed on Realms-L. I forget by whom.

I don't currently run a game in Faerun, but I will buy this book, as like the FRCS and MoF it looks to have a large amount of quality content I can steal from.

I'm also interested to see if they give the Forest Gnome an ECL.

so what's the point in priting this book then??

Isn't Savage Species more of a "monster PC" book, focusing on the more powerful or exotic critters?

Hopefully, there will be some funky critter-specific prestige classes. Lots of potential here --- vampire PrCs, beholder PrCs, the Kobold Avenger PrC...

So "Races of Faerun" will cover the more traditional PC classes, and offer FR-specific cultural stuff.

And the breachgnome. Remember the 2ed breachgnome? Remember the illustration? That's the first picture of a gnome I ever saw that made we want to play a gnome...

I'm considering it, but it'll have to fall under the, "Wait and see it myself," category. If Savage Species has little overlap with this, then they might make good companions.

Worst thing they ever did was not include ECL with every monster entry from the get-go.

What's that, Flipper? You want a fishy?? Flipper want a fis....AHH SWEET MOTHER OF GOD IT JUMPED OUT OF THE WATER AND IS BITING MY FACE OFF!!!!

Many moons ago, in the Tambu Lounge at the Polynesian resort at Disney World, there was an entertainer named John Charles. One of his routines was to hold a plastic shark in one hand, and a plastic porpoise in the other. He would then inch them closer together, while singing:

“They called him Flipper...”

“Du-nuh..”

“Flipper...”

“Du-nuh..”

And so on and so forth. It was wildly amusing, after about four Blue Hawaiians. ;) Sadly, that particular selection is not available on his CDs.

After hearing numerous reports, regarding overly-amorous male dolphins, I devised a half-dolphin crossbreed to compete against my opinaku; a half-elven race whose parents include sea elves and weresharks.

This looks like the most interesting FR book to me since the original campaign setting.
Agreed. I'm not running FR at the moment but I think the setting is rich with ideas. And adding more meat to the various races never hurts. :D
