This year it appears that my dad decided not to give out x-mas bonuses (or at least hasn't done so yet) and today I really earned mine..

My family runs a Mexican restaurant and today this mexican customer (who has been known to be problematic) decided to show up. When he showed up it was semi busy he made a fuss because he wasn't sat down at a large booth we reserve for larger parties (even though there were three other tables tables). He then complained and said I was discriminating against him because ""this is a mexican restaurant, since I'm Mexican I should sit where ever I want."

We sat him at an other table (which he chose) then ordered. Once he was finished, and given the bill he complained that the food wasn't spicy enough and as a result shouldn't have to pay for it because "only [general spanish derogatory term for homosexuals] would eat that eating something that was as sweat as that tasted because it wasn't macho," and yes that IS what he said. He then started calling every male employee by that same term because we served food that only [general spanish derogatory term for homosexuals] would eat.

At that point I told him he couldn't use that I didn't care if he was talking in spanish because kind of derogatory language and that if he still had a problem then I can call the police and have them speak with him. At that point my brother who was working in the bar chimed in by saying "Pay the bill, leave and never come back."

They paid then left after calling the waitresses a [expletive] dog.

A regular who understood spanish congratulated me for how I handled the situation, but still...

That guy sounds like a real pendejo.

The customer is NEVER right when they verbally insult you and make the experience miserable for your other customers. Your brother did the right thing throwing him out and asking him never to return.

So, does that mean I can go into a 99 or Applebees and demand to sit wherever I want? Should they treat me better than Bertucci's or the Chinese place down the street because I grew up in the culture their food comes from?

What an a-hole. Congrats on earning the bonus. I hope you get one!

What a jerk. I can't stand people like that. Was he there with someone? How did they react to his behavior? I would horribly embarrassed if someone I was accompanying acted in such a manner.

Yes, there were two others with him. His brother/friend/coworker (not sure which it was) on a boy who was at least 10 years old. The boy was translating (since I have 1 rank in Speak Spanish, and 2-4 ranks in comprehend Spanish) and the other guy was at least a little more cooperative then the guy who was being insulting..

Personally, I think all people who act in the manner of El Asshat should be stuffed into a burlap sack and beaten with reeds. Seriously, I miss the days when a public shaming was an effective tool for deterring this kind of deplorable behaviour. Nowadays, people wear their rudeness as a badge of honour, calling it "assertiveness". It makes me sad, angry, and embarassed for them.
