I give it an 8. Same score I'd give the original.

Some things I like more about the new movie, other things I like better about the original. Overall, they're about the same.

The Matrix was a 10 for me and The Matrix Reloaded was a 9. The gratuitous sex scene and the fact that Zion did nothing for me drops it ever so slightly. Still, a great movie...

I wholeheartedly agree.

I thought the original Matrix was a 3 1/2 star film (we'll call that a 9 *shrugs*). Right now, I'd give it 3 stars (call it an 8). But I'm seeing it again and my opinion may change...

"Matrix Reloaded" lacks the heart and soul of the original movie.

Most of the dialog/acting in the second movie is wooden or forced, and the story is not nearly as intriguing and engaging. And this is NOT because the secret of the Matrix is already known to us. Myself, I was watching the DVD of the original movie for about the 4th or 5th time, and I was surprised by how intriguing and engaging the dialog and story still were.

Furthermore, in "Matrix Reloaded", I felt the characters have gotten too cool for their shades, too sexy for their bodies. And that dance-party scene in Zion: it was like something out of a hip hop video on MTV, and it took up way too much movie time. (The love scene between Neo and Trinity was okay; bittersweet and touching, even; but the scenes from the dance-party that interspaced their lovemaking gave it an underscore that seemed silly and even slightly embarrassing.)

Still, "Matrix Reloaded" was a fun and exciting movie to watch. (Watching Trinity on that motorcycle, racing along the freeway against traffic, really got my heart to thumping. And Morpheus with that katana - or was it a ninjato? - was awesome.) But if ever I get the DVD, I doubt it will be one that I watch again and again. It certainly will not become a classic.

I rate the original Matrix a 10, and the Matrix Reloaded, a 7.

I thought the movie was very good. The only problem I have was that is was shown slightly out of focus, but thats not the movies fault. I'm probably not going to see it again, but I'll get the DVD.

I liked this one better for one reason: the revelation came at the end of the flick, not 30 minutes in. In #1 Thomas Anderson finds that he's been in a computer simulation all his life, In #2 he discovers at the end of the movie that he's been in a computer simulation all his life and is still in it.

It's a 6. It's not bad, but this one relied a lot more on the strength of the characters (the Neo & Trinity matchup, Morpheus being nuts) and that's where it got caught up. The characters in both movies are really, really cool people without a lot of depth.

Also, the end of Zion really annoyed me. Not even one clip of the destruction? Just a voiceover? Awww... I wanted some carnage.
