Also, the end of Zion really annoyed me. Not even one clip of the destruction? Just a voiceover? Awww... I wanted some carnage.
I mentioned this to a friend just after viewing it. I know Zion is still there and the battle was only a prelude of what is to come but it would have been nice to see a few minutes of that conflict. I also know that they are saving that for the final film, but still...

The battle wasn't at Zion, it was at one of the tunnels the machines crossed on their way to Zion. There is still another twenty four hours until they reach Zion itself.

Not that any of that excuses not showing any of the battle.

Got that right.

Now I'm no longer wondering why they spent time introducing Neo's Number One Fan and he never did anything and died offscreen.

The kid wasn't old enough to join a ship yet, so unless Agent Smith killed him, which I really, really doubt, he's not dead yet.

Yeah, that's what I meant. I must have misunderstood or misremembered the voiceover and thought that the machines really had wiped out Zion like the Architect said. Ergo, the kid would be dead. This would make the five or ten minutes they spent introducing the character a pretty superfluous addition to the film. Wow look, here's a new character and here's his story now he does nothing for two hours and dies offscreen right before the credits.

But since they didn't, he's not and they didn't.

I gave it a 9. I thought that the begining was rather poor, but it made up for it very well with the end. I thought that the fight with the Oracle's bodyguard was completely unneccesary, as was the "dance" in the temple. Not as good as the original, but still a pretty nice film.

Oh yeah. I feel like a moron for asking this, but what happened to Tank? I thought he survived. Did I miss a scene or something?

I thought it was pretty good, too, for not having seen the first one. But I agree withy ou, SamuraiY, that bodyguard and the dance in the temple was probably just to fill the time...

From an article I read last year, the actor became persona non grata (sp?) due to his actions on/off set, and was told to leave.

The actor badmouthed the producer.

EDIT: Damn, not fast enough.
