Ravenloft, the Movie

Vampire movies always seem to carry their weight.

Would a Ravenloft movie make a good D&D/vampire crossover film?
Horror movies do great. You’d be at cross purposes with horror and D&D. Just like in the recent setting and module.

In the last year and into the next we will have Sinners, Dracula, and Nosferatu. Or, better yet, here’s a list of newer vampire movies.

What would a Strahd movie bring to the table besides licensing fees, Hasbro meddling, and confused audience expectations? Basically anything you could do with Strahd you can do with those obstacles.

That gets you the tiny D&D audience, and probably makes the mainstream audience think “huh, that’s weird, why did they change Van Helsing into a hobbit?” — I just don’t see a reason to do it from the Hollywood POV. It would come across like those gimmicky comedy rip-off horror films to anybody not familiar with D&D.

There’s a reason D&D copied Dracula.
As it's a pocket dimension I suppose they could take a leaf out of the '70s book of SciFi; "The Fantastic Journey." Have modern day characters, as audience POV, then mix in other times and fantasy.
