Return to the Barrier Peaks, Fiend Folio, and Unearthed Arcana?

If there will be little if any at all of UAs material updated to 3E, it doesn't make sense to me to call the book UA. Unless of course they can't or wont come up with their own name for the book for whatever reason. Give us an original name for the book WOTC!

You know, of all of the material in a book that I buy if for, the name is about the last thing I care about. I don't understand how anybody could get all passionate about them calling any old book they wanted "Unearthed Arcana" again as long as the contents were either "unearthed" in some sense (as in the original much of it was reprinted from Dragon) or "arcane."

Well that's easy for you to say but what if you wrote the original and you found out that somebody wrote a book with the same title as yours? Just to make some extra money from the name recognition? Would it be too much to ask WOTC to name it something else? A name THEY come up with? Is this asking too much? Am I out of line?

um... so should they have called manuel of the planes somethign else? how about oriental adventures?

i like the fact that they hark back to 1e days with the book titles...

anyway, it IS their name... they bought it when they bought D&D.

Are you Gary Gygax? If not, then I'm not really sure why it would bother you based on your reasoning. I would also note that under the same reasoning the titles Players Handbook, Dungeon Masters Guide, Manual of the Planes, Oriental Adventures, Monster Manual, etc. are also questionable.

The original Unearthed Arcana was a mish mash rules expansion for 1e. That's all people have proposed here. A product similar in scope and thus bearing the same name, in keeping with the 3e book naming conventions set forth by WotC so far (ie reviving 1e book names).

Just out of curiosity, what needs to be updated? Barbarian is a core class, many of the spells and magic items are updated. Chivalre are a core class? (pardon my spelling). Anything else really? Most of the core classe are out in one form or another and those that aren't, are covered by the PrCs.

Hehe, maybe in honor of the INFAMOUS method 9 stat generation they can include something like my hybrid roll n' buy system. What was the new name for it? Organic point buy I think?

Ya, if they put out a book called UA I think we all know that it wont actually have any of the material from the original UA at all. Maybe it will have the same KIND of material but not "updated" material of what was in UA like you said.
