Ring of the Fey Lord (DM:Atanatotatos, Judge:Lord Sessadore)Up:Lorik, etc.

Haruka smiles softly at the woad's questions. "No, you only hurt them. Significantly. If it makes you feel any better, they were intending to murder peaceful travelers, and they may have gotten one of our companions."

"What am I doing here? Well, we were hired to end an innocent man's torment. It seems that through no fault of his own he has been caught up in the political machinations of the Fey Court, and his life has become forfeit. Our task is to reveal the true culprit, some Lady of Nightmares, and return a bit of jewelry to a capricious Fey Lord."

"As for what you are doing here? I don't know for certain. What I do know is that I asked my patron for assistance in defeating our assailants, and suddenly you burst from the trees and started cutting them down. Coincidence?" Haruka shrugs, "Perhaps. Who can tell for certain. But if you are bound to serve me, that might explain why I seem familiar."

Of course," Haruka continues, her attention suddenly drawn to the rod stuck in the woad's chest, "It may have something to do with this. It still contains something of power, yes?" she asks as she reaches out to examine the rod.

As soon as Haruka's fingertip touches the rod, a jolt of some power passes through her body and Iron's like an electrical discharge. Haruka retracts her hand swiftly, like it touchd smething burning hot. The experience is harmless, but rather startling.
Ironheart's pain after the flow of energly is slightly lessened.

ooc:Why did I put this in an ooc sblock? meh...

Ikni sits cross-legged in the corner, the magic sword across her lap, oblivious to the proceedings. A bead of milky-white sweat runs down her brow as she concentrates on the blade.

[sblock=ooc]There's still the matter of who gets this sword to resolve. If it's intended for Lorik, Ikni will fail to bond with it. But it would be kind of good to decide soon-ish. Still no word from Don I, I take it?[/sblock]

[sblock=ooc]you take it right, cov, unfortunately. I sent Don a pm first and an e-mail then, but no answer. I'm trying to be optimistic and think that maybe he's on vacation or had connection problems and could not warn us because it happened during the days when ENworld was not working. So I'll wait a few more days before taking a decision as a judge in Fire and Ice. However, we don't have to necessarily wait here too. Let's go on if you agree. Lorik will be in a feverish state for now. You decide your next course of action. I suppose you'll want to take an extended rest? Aside from resources expended, it's night at the moment. [/sblock]

[sblock=ooc]cov, why don't you have the sword fail to bond for now? When Don comes back, you can give it to him, since it was on his wishlist. In the unfortunate event that Don doesn't come back, Ikni can try bonding with the sword again and this time, perhaps due to a less stressful environment, it succeeds. I mean, the only things bonding gives you is the ability to repair and summon it, which aren't amazingly great.

And yes, an extended rest would be great, and I think we'll be taking one as soon as we finish all this crazy "character development" stuff.[/sblock]

[sblock=joe]yes. you know she's a powerful and twisted fey that inhabits the outskirts of this region (controlled by Lord Arnamil). You know her by fame, as she's feared by all feys and animals and plant spirits that live near the territory under her control. Many wonder why Lord Arnamil has not yet disposed of her.[/sblock]

"Nightmares?" The tree's eyes seem to sink closed for a moment, and his leaves rustle as he shudders. "I know the Lady of Nightmares of old. She... does not have proper care for her domain. If you oppose her, I will not oppose you."

Ironheart's eyes jerk open and glare down at Haruka. "I SERVE no mortal, and I came at no call! I am tasked with protecting these woods, but... these?" The fire drains out of his eyes again, and he glances around in confusion. "I have wandered so long and so far, I barely know where nightmares end and the mortal world begins."

Ironheart lurches backward, and swings his axe around in front of him to block the doorway. It gouges a chunk out of the wooden wall as it passes. "TOUCH IT NOT!" he roars. "It is pain, but it is part of me now." He trails off, staring at Haruka in wonderment. "The pain is... lessened. How did you do this?" As an afterthought, he glances in consternation at the new gash in the wall, as if he doesn't know how it got there.

Haruka sucks her finger as though it had been stung. "I'm not sure, myself. If you don't mind my asking, what are you? How did that," she gestures again towards the rod with her free hand, "get there?"
