D&D 5E Rise of Tiamat hardcover goes for big money

I'm getting ready to sell off some extra books, and I noticed that Rise of Tiamat is going for big money now!
I get that it's out of print because of the Tyranny of Dragons hardcover compilation, but it was never a real darling by any means, but eBay prices are $100+ !!!
That's crazy!

Umm... I don't think it's even out of print. I run a FLGS and I can still get them from distributors. What I CAN'T get is the Tyranny of Dragons one-volume edition. THAT seems to be out of print. I know! I thought it was replacing the two books, but it didn't seem to happen that way.

I'm trying to decide which one to keep the compilation or the two books. Leaning towards the compilation obviously.

I thought the collected book was an in store exclusive, aren't those short print runs anyway? I can't find it on Amazon from WotC anyway.

Also Rise is over $100 on Amazon too, looks like all third party sellers. I.e. can't click "buy" on WotC's page for it.

Must be recently OOP. We've had it in stock since it came out. I admit, I haven't tried to get one in a couple of weeks or more. Maybe it's gone now. I hear the Starter and the Essentials boxes will not be long available, either.

I would keep the Compilation if you have both. It's got a bit of a reworked beginning, which is better. Plus a cool cover. Plus it's way more rare.

The original was released before the Monster Manual and DMG were finalized, so when the compilation was done, things were cleaned up and updated to match the official releases of those two, so the compilation would be the better version and more desirable, to me at least. Also, what people list things for on eBay is not what they are actually selling for, in most cases.

I hear the Starter and the Essentials boxes will not be long available, either.

Lost Mines starter is being replaced by Stormwrack Isle starter. That's known.

Essentials going away surprises me, but that leaves a big hole for another target exclusive in 6 months or so...

What big D&D thing happens then I wonder
