Romanesque world setting?

I am wondering if there is a campaign setting established that sets up a romanesque world? By this I mean advanced architecture, literature, philosophy, a strong ruling empire. Rome is one of the staple foundations used for D&D and I can't think of a setting focusing on it. Please, tell me I am overlooking something and tell me where to find it?

The Kingdom of Kalamar/Kalamaran Empire, a powerful region and the namesake of the Kingdoms of Kalamar campaign setting, is fairly Romanesque. Of course, it's not the only kingdom in the setting, but one of the most powerful. More info on this particular region can be found here.

Damn! I was hoping this thread would be about worlds from the era that Romanesque architecture was produced, Late Antiquity (310-600). Now that seems like an incredibly cool period, the transition from the Roman Empire to the Medieval period, and a time when the world was viewed as being suffused with magic.

Has anyone run a game or come across a supplement that tries for the feel of this time?

I see we had the same thoughts ;)

The closest I've seen to this is a person attempting to put Ars Magica back in the early Ottonian era.

With you on that one as well. Though I certainly wouldn't mind seeing the period extended even up through the development of Gothic architecture.

I likes me some 'dark' ages!

mmmm, Byzantine intrigues...

Though, of course, for me it would have to be fantasy-sized.

My maidenly modesty almost forfends my mentioning it, but my humble world (a work in progress) is based on Late Antiquity (specifically, the 4th century CE)

"Imperial Rome", part of Green Ronin's Mythic Vistas line, is coming out in a few months.

Cheers
Nell.

I did not see any inof on this on the Green Ronin site, do you know where I could read about it (what it may cover)?

This looks awesome. I just made an impulse buy :D

Well if you're going to dive into non-d20 material, I would recommend Fulminata above "roma imperious".. the former is more historically detailed.. you can kind of figure that out, though, when you realize Fulminata is correct latin, and "roma imperious" most certainly isn't.
