RPG Crowdfunding News – Into the Mother Lands, Flash Gordon, ACE!, and more

Into the Mother Lands - An Original Afrofuturist TTRPG.jpg

Into the Mother Lands - An Original Afrofuturist TTRPG from Tanya DePass
  • END DATE: Sun, June 20 2021 2:59 AM EDT.
  • SYSTEM(S): To Be Determined (as explained in their Kickstarter FAQ). The concepts and world exist, the engine has yet to be determined because Tanya DePass and team are entertaining offers from a variety of publishers and they don’t want to close any doors by locking in a system. Whatever they choose, existing or original, it will represent the tone and style of the world that they’re creating.
  • PROJECT TYPE: Core rulebook
  • MOST POPULAR PLEDGE: $25 for the PDFs of the quickstart and the sourcebook
  • WHY SPOTLIGHT THIS CAMPAIGN? 1500 years ago, humanity arrived on Musalia, a new world, far from Earth. Now, an advanced society composed of humans, indigenous species, plants, and machines thrives and adventure awaits. As a high concept it’s not bad, but what makes this project stand out are the humans, they originated from pre-colonial Africa. As a setting, it carries none of the colonial concepts that form the foundation of so much of our society, allowing for a freer, more original type of storytelling.

  • WHY SPOTLIGHT THIS CAMPAIGN? After succeeding with both WOIN and Simply 6, Morrus has a new gaming engine, ACE! This one is designed to bring 1980s action adventure to your gaming table. Done as a series of comic sized books, this project offers a core rulebook with a foreword by Sandy Petersen (30 pages) and five genre books that use Ghostbusters, Indiana Jones, Star Trek, and more as touchstones. Best of all, the game offers fans and publishers a free compatibility license so you can publish your own content. If you want to revisit the spirit of 80s action adventures, this system offers all of the fun of those tales.

This structure lets you play the story across its high points.

Good Guys Finish Last from Post World Games
  • END DATE: Wed, June 2 2021 12:15 PM EDT.
  • SYSTEM(S): An original storytelling superhero system
  • PROJECT TYPE: Core rulebook
  • MOST POPULAR PLEDGE: $12 for the PDF of the game
  • WHY SPOTLIGHT THIS CAMPAIGN? This project reprints this RPG classic with new layouts and art. As Post World Games first license, this one comes in at 120 pages. You’ll take on the roles of superheroes as well as comic creators and a publisher telling your own story. The system allows you to define your powers without focusing on choosing from a pre-defined list. Instead, you create the hero you want to have and narrate the differences in power levels, allowing Batman to be a threat to Superman. If you’re looking for a classic with an updated look, give this one a shot.

If you’re interested, the campaign page has a free booklet to try out.

"As a setting, it carries none of the colonial concepts that form the foundation of so much of our society, allowing for a freer, more original type of storytelling." What do you mean by that Egg, or is that just ad copy from the game?

I am happy because all those titles have been funded and they will can be published, but we have arrived to a point where these franchises need some way to be remembered and the they can continue publishing more things. Some days ago I wondered about certain title I couldn't remembered, and it was "the lost citadel" by Green Ronin, one of the most important 3PPs and with more experience in the market since the days of 3rd Ed. Those 3PPs need something to be not forgotten and players can know when new sourcebooks have been published.

it is either a paraphrase or straight from the KS.

There's a big discussion of it: Into the Mother Lands: A Sci-fi RPG by PoC Designers

It isn't actually that's why I asked. It's isn't mentioned at all in the text.

Eugenio says "where colonialism and slavery aren't baggage for our human characters" in the video and the player of Koseh speaks of taking the colonialism and Imperialism out of exploring, so I was curious as what that phrase meant to Egg.

You should add Zomicide Chronicles that began as a boardgame (although not sure it counts as it isn't licensed just released by the same company). Also Tank Girl, Tales from the Crypt and Species are technically "The World of ..." and Dream Park is two words.

You also might want to add DNAgent Sourcebook for Villains and Vigilantes (cover on Amazon) (comic original source wiki).

Thanks a million. I added all those just now.
I've started to convert the page into a Wikipedia list, but still have a ways to go.

Eyes of Nine

Everything's Fine
  1. Into the Motherlands
  2. Once More into the Void
  3. Good Guys finish Last (my homie jim pinto is publishing)
Are all definitely back, although some maybe only at the .pdf level

Deittman Files and They Stirred are on my watch list, but with everything else (I backed Ironsworn:Starsforged last night!) they probably won't end up above the fold...
