Some I bought never intending to play them (Living Steel, Talislanta, Hero...) for a variety of reasons -- from novelty factor to idea-mining -- while others I bought to play and just never have (Werewolf, Sorcerer, Aberrant...). Either way, I don't mind having things on the shelf I've never played -- they make for interesting reading. ;)

Call of Cthulu d20 - though I have played the original system and I did recently get the most updated version of it, which I have not played. It turns out the Cthulu folks decided it was stupid to make a d20 version, won't support it anymore, and went back to their original system (with a new edition).

Actually, that's not at all what happened. The 'Cthulhu Folks' (Chaosium) had nothing to do with Call of Cthulhu d20, past licensing the Call of Cthulhu IP to Wizards of the Coast (the company actually responsible for Call of Cthulhu d20). The license was limited in scope, and was never (according to both parties) intended to be devloped into an ongoing product line. Ironically, Chaosium actually supported it longer that WotC did, by priting several dual-statted campaign books long after WotC had left the game floating out there in the ether.

[Note: I actually prefer d20 CoC to the original, but I had to sell my copy a while back.]

Brave New World (Would really like to play it, but low-powered rebel superheroes in a facist alternate-history United States doesn't seem to interest a lot of people)
Star Trek/Star Trek: The Next Generation/Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (Last Unicorn versions, also would really like to play them)
New World of Darkness/Werewolf: The Forsaken/Mage: The Awakening (haven't gotten to play them yet, but would really like to, especially Mage)
GURPS (lots of sourcebooks, used them for other games)
Hunter: The Reckoning (Got it for 5 bucks, mostly library padding)
Everquest
Arcana Evolved (plundered it for mechanics and ideas, not actually played AE/U proper).
Wheel of Time d20 (almost got to play in it, the GM insisted I read the first book before the campaign began, I started to read it a few days before the game began, but got a serious flu and couldn't complete the book by the time the game began, so I couldn't play.)

Now, I've got a lot of games I've only played once, or for a few games, I've got a huge library, of which I've played much of it only a few times, but at least played them.

While the setting and most of the races/classes are schlock fantasy, the underlying system (especially the magic system) is very, very, neat. The other games that use variants of that system (Khaotic! and Lost Souls) are similarly hobbled by poorly thought out setting and excessive in-jokes that make said games come off as bad satire (which is really a shame).
 


The vast majority of my collection I have played at least once (over 100 RPGs). However, that was until about two years ago. It seems I have since gained a lot of RPGs that I have not been able to play yet... heck, I've written an RPG that I haven't been able to play yet. The vast majority (except for the one I wrote) are d20 based RPGs, but some are outside that field. I'll start with the non-d20 games.

Burning Wheel - I am in love with this game. REALLY in love with it. Except for the combat mechanics actually. And even there, I LOVE the ranged combat mechanics in general. Would love to actually play this, but haven't.

AssassinX - I wrote this RPG in a fit of pique, but have never had the opportunity to run a game of it yet. I even have a small pile of the rule books sitting here beside me, and some ideas percolating for an expansion / revision of the game.

Ars Magica - the latest edition, very pretty, is just sitting there gathering dust.

In Nomine - Fabulous book, but I doubt that I'll ever get an opportunity to run or play it anymore.

UnderGround is part of my "every game designer must own this" collection. The rules for changing the world / country / neighbourhood / houshold are brilliant and essential reading.
