S1: The Strange Case of Aif Jenkins' Farm (E13 judge) - Concluded

"Treachery!" cries Eusebius. His gaze steely, he flicks the chain in his hand toward Toler, seeking to wrap it around his ankles and pull his feet from under him.

[sblock=OOC]Trip attempt with spiked chain. Does not attract an attack of opportunity. Melee touch attack with the weapon, with -4 penalty since Eusebius is not proficient with the chain.

Attack: +0; Strength check +1

If successful, he steps forward 5 feet, ready to attack next round. If unsuccessful and subject to a trip attack in return, he drops the chain.

Are you going to be making the rolls for us, Manz? I don't recall if we discussed it or not. I'm certainly very happy for you to do so.[/sblock]

ooc: Noticed you rolled initiative. Do you want us to do any rolling, or do you prefer to?

Banion's attack will be at +12 for 1d4+3, with an additional 1d8 damage from psychic strike. Furthermore, on his first attack he'll probably recieve +2 to his attack and avoid Dex bonus to AC as he is hidden.

These numbers include point blank shot.

He'll throw his mindblade (standard action) form a new one (move action till next level) and step back.

Boog doesn't get a chance to recast his mind reading ability.

Surprise round:
Simutaneously, Rafferty steps forward on the platform and releases the catch on the wench, causing the main door to creak open. Over the next round, it will fall to the ground, leaving the way open for the wolves to enter the compound.
"I've been waiting for this!", Boog thought over the mindlink with entirely too much eagerness. He drew his dagger and advanced on the gate.[sblock=OoC: ]Boog will draw his dagger and advance until he is in melee range with something unfriendly, either Toler, Rafferty, or a wolf. If not jumped by something where he stands, he will first advance to G10. Then, as necessary, G11 (if Eusebius moves forward) or H11 (if he doesn't), then H12. If, for some strange reason, he still can't engage something, he'll move to H13. Once there, he will melee with dagger, +3 to hit and and d4+1 damage. 29/29 HP, 23/34 PP remaining (since the second Read Thoughts didn't go off). Boog will not use Elan Resistance or Resilience unless absolutely necessary to remain conscious.[/sblock]

Feel free to make your own rolls. I just made that initiative roll b/c I didn't want to slow down the action waiting for each of you to make it individually.

Round 1
Eusebius lashes out with his chain, but Toler dodges it expertly. Neither man, though, seems prepared for Beamer's spell, which coats the assassins in sparkling dust. Each flails blindly for a moment. Lothar, who is standing on the 4 foot platform, manages to throw his arm over the palasade wall, and flip over it, to land on the outside. The gate continues to lower, but the wolves are still not visible at this point. Their howling has also ceased.

Boog advances to H12 and strikes at the blinded Toler with his dagger. It's an awkward swing, though, and doesn't penetrate the man's leather armor. Juliana also advances to I14, right in front of the gate. She lashes out at Toler with her guisarme, catching the blinded man and tearing a bloody gash. (11 pts dmg)

Toler screams and retreats as best he can, stumbling down the alley between the wall and the common dining area (to D14).

There are now no enemies in Banion's direct line of sight.

OK. I was in a rush this morning & didn't really finish round 1. I'll continue now. I'll assume Banion pauses briefly, he has no targets for his thrown mindblade quite yet.

The gate hasn't quite reached the ground when the wolves start to jump onto it and charge into the compound. They are large creatures, about 3 feet at the shoulder, and are single dark colors, black, brown or gray. They look like this. Four come bounding in, all rushing past Juliana.

Juliana brings up her glaive as they rush her, but she is only able to strike at one. The other three rush right by. They move with uncanny speed. Juliana is unable to get her glaive around in time to do any real damage before the first one jumps on her. It's teeth spark uselessly against her armored body.

Banion is over 30 feet from the wolves, but he hurls his blade at the first one to pass. It misses, and the wolf continues on towards Eusebius. The monk gets a swipe with his chain before the wolf can close. He misses. The wolf leaps at his throat, but Eusebius easily avoids the snapping jaws.

The other two wolves go for Beamer and Boog. The wolf's teeth clamp down on Boog's calf, and with a twist of its mighty neck, it sends the Elan tumbling to the ground. (I believe Boog's modifier againt the trip is +1. If it were +3 or greater, he's be fine. Boog takes 7 points of dmg.)

The last wolf bites at Beamer's arm, and jerks back, trying to take the halfling down. But it only pulls out a piece of flesh. (Beamer takes 5 pts dmg)

Round 2: Eusebius & Beamer are up!

Eusebius takes a step back from the snarling jaws in front of him and calls on the blessing of Hyrag, to aid both himself and his allies.

[sblock=OOC]5 foot step backwards. Casts Bless. +1 morale bonus on attack rolls and saves vs fear for 20 rounds.[/sblock]

Beamer's arm burns from the bite, but he feels lucky to have escaped without being shaken like a rag doll. Keeping his guard up, he retreats back while striking while letting the burning power inside him strike out in a debilitating ray.

OOC: Did Beamer just win an opposed trip? That's amazing!
5' step north west. Cast Ray of enfeeblement (1d20+9=21, 1d6+2=5)
Spells remaining:
0th: 5, 1st: 5, 2nd: 3
Spells in effect: Mage armor (4 hours), AC 19, Bless (20 rounds)
HP: 12/17

Banion will once again throw and then manifest a new mindblade. Since he missed last round, his mindblade is still charged with the extra 1d8 damage. He'll try to draw attention away from Beamer by attacking the wolf that's snapping at his friend.

Round 2: Eusebius & Beamer are up!
OoC: Just a little confused about the initiative order here. If I understand this right, Boog goes first, attacks Toler and misses, then the wolves go(?) and trip Boog, then...the wolves go again? Or does Boog get a chance to stand and attack?

OoC: You are correct, sir!

Now, for round 2...

IC: Boog shook his leg loose and grinned, scrambling to his feet. A low-pitched hum emanated from his body as it took on an unearthly, glistening sheen. He reached out for the wolf that bit him, not with the hand that held his dagger, but with the outstretched fingers of his other hand.[sblock=OoC: ]Stand up (move action), and manifest Empathic Transfer, Hostile (standard action). Melee touch attack at +4 (+3 +1 from Bless) to transfer all his damage to the wolf. 22-?? HP, 18/34 PP.[/sblock]

Boog and Juliana should post actions as well. They go after Rafferty, so I didn't mention them above, but since Rafferty is effectively out of combat, now, they have nothing to wait for!

Note that if boog stands now, he'll give an AoO to the wolf. Does he want to stand? Or just touch from prone?
