S3: The Scythe of Seto (Bront Judging)[Completed]

Rasereit doesn't really consider this caravan a threat, but he makes sure to make known the existence of his many weapons. He sleeps without armor, but he does keep his waraxe under his bedroll and his gear at his side.

OOC: Remind me to get some light night time armor for Razh in the next city. Oh wait, he's dirt poor, because I had him spend all his money on a shield... =P

[sblock=OOC: ]Actually, now that I think about it, I could spend DM credits to grab a little extra gold for Razh. I feel less guilty about spending my DM credits on money anyway. Manz, would you be okay with that? I don't want the money to fall out of the sky, so maybe we could come up with some in game reason for it to come into Razh's hands. I'd spend 1 DM credit for 300gp, I'd use the money to buy a chain shirt for sleeping, pay back Beamer, and for food and travel supplies, nothing major. (And the chain shirt won't be used in this encounter! =P ) If not, that's okay too. I know they're supposed to be used outside of adventures anyway.[/sblock]

This is totally fine. Come by the money any way you chose. I had a busy weekend. Hopefully will put a post in tomorrow.

That night passes uneventfully. At first anyway. Sometime in the early morning, Razh & the cleft-lipped guard sit by the fire. The others sleep. The man seems quite interested in Razh's adventures, and makes for a good audience. Absorbed in their conversation, they fail to notice that the sleepers all seems to be having bad dreams at the same time. They stir, and grumble in their slumber. Finally Razh himself thinks he hears some sort of whisper in the dark. He stops talking and listens, but the whisper is incomprehensible. Razh feels like if the crickets and wind would only stop, he could make it out.

Then the guard winces, gasps, and drops to his knees. He vomits. The sleeping women and the other two guards begin to scream and writhe. Ogrin, Beamer, Banion and Eusebius all awake. They are not immediately aware of where they are. All were lost in a dream of dark mazes, with evil dark shapes pursuing them, red eyes glowing the misty darkness.

"Ouagh! Hellbugs! Gerroffmee!" Ogrin yells as he awakes, the fiery red eyes reminding him of a certain island... when he comes to his senses, he leaps to the nearest of the affected and tries to wake him or her.

Eusebius stumbles to his feet, shaking his head to clear the fog from his mind.

"Maledicte! What manner of enemy attacks us so?" He raises his holy symbol and looks around, trying to pierce the gloom.

As his thoughts clear, he moves to stand beside Beamer. "Is it safe?" he whispers.

Beamer darts to his feet, reaching into his pack to pull out a wand. He raises it as a dark form moves toward him out of the darkness. "Ig- Oh, it is just you, Eusebius." Seeing the others all awake to a startled consciousness, Beamer becomes concerned. At Eusebius's question, he feigns relaxation, and opens his pack to replace the wand. While it is open, he checks for the scythe to make sure it is still there.

If it is, he meets Eusebius's eyes and simply gives a short nod.

If not, he meets Eusebius's eyes with his face contorted by a look of fear and gasps, "No."

Rasereit stands, axe in hand and shield partially raised. He feels kind of useless against incorporeal enemies like this. "Oi! Wake up, just dreams! Nah shut up an' listen!"

Banion will manifest a mindblade. As there isn't currently anyone to throw one at, he will melt into the shadows. He isn't any good at healing, so he'll leave it to Eusebius if he can manage it... Banion will be ready for the arrival of monsters, including monsters exploding out of the sick people.
