S3: The Scythe of Seto (Bront Judging)[Completed]

I should let Beamer choose, but I assumed Reinert would be the 6th recipient of Beamer's haste spell. If it's a horse instead, let me know.

Round 1 (con't)
Raseriet spurs his horse to the fore. The powerful stallion pushes forward around the wagon to the North. It is significantly slowed by the trees and bushes, but does make it forward to the web (using its full 70 move)

Eusebius steps out of the way of the charging horse and readies his defense(?)

From their position in the front Rasereit & Eusebius are the first to see the creature barreling down at them across the web. It runs along the trees and web, nimbly. And what a creature it is. It is likely the largest creature either has ever seen, its body at least 10 feet across and its legs that much longer in every direction. It is a gargantuan spider, hairy, ugly, and with impressive fangs. It has strange markings on its back, though further study must wait.

As it closes with Razh & his mount, Ogrin, and then the rest, can see it too, though its body is partially concealed by the leaves and branches of the various trees.

Combat notes [sblock] OK. How should this work. Rasereit's horse has taken a full move, but can Razh still act? Should the spider get a 15 foot reach with its fangs? I wouldn't think so, even if it is gargantuan. It will attack Razh, though, or maybe his horse. Has Eusebius delayed his action? He may have a tricky time getting around to attack the spider....[/sblock]

OOC: I assume that that hideously enormous polygonal shape is the spider? Ouch. :uhoh:

Eusebius would have attacked the spider if he had time to do so before Rasz rode past him, so that'll depend on the spider's initiative, I guess.

Is it 10 feet away from him, or more? If it's within 10 feet, he'll attack it. From your description, it's above the ground, so I'd think that Eusebius would have a shot at it from where he's standing. (I assume that his stepping aside from Rasz constitutes a 5 foot step, so he wouldn't have any movement left.)

If he can't reach it, he'll cast Bless this round.

DC 17 listen (1d20+11=21)

ooc: Wow, major facelift for IC since the last time I went there! I think Raeserit can still take a standard action even though his horse took a double move action.

Round 1
Banion hears attackers coming in from both sides, and manifests a mindblade. He will full defend and move stealthfully into a position from which he can throw a mindblade at an enemy moving out into the open -- preferably at tree line, using the foliage for concealment in order to hide.

ooc: Examining the map, it looks like Banion only moved 5' in round 1, so his stealth should be largely intact.

Round 2
Banion will throw his mindblade at the big spider.

Thrown Mindblade, Does not include PBS (1d20+12=28, 1d6+1d4+2=12)

Edit: It looks like Banion is within 30 feet, so that would be an attack roll of 29 for 13 damage. Also, mindless creatures are immune to psychic strike damage, and I believe vermin are mindless. If the spider is a thinking creature (i.e. not what it appears to be) additional damage would apply.

ooc: I'm forgetting how this character works! I should also point out that if Banion is still unseen when he throws, he gets a +2 on his attack (or the monster gets a -2 on it's AC, same difference) and the monster loses its Dex bonus to AC against the attack. Banion's mindblade reforms immediately after being thrown.

OOC: Since Rasereit moved before the monster did, he'll ready a standard action to attack whatever comes crashing out of the woods (which has been revealed to be a monstrous spider). (Attack rolls above.)

OOC2: It might be worth mentioning that in 3.5, they did away with variable sized large creatures. For instance, a large horse is now 10' x 10', or 2x2, rather than 2x1. It might be an over-simplification, but there you go. It means a mounted warrior now threatens 12 squares, but it also means he probably provokes more attacks of opportunities and can be swarmed more easily.

Since you've already made the map, I'd vote to keep it as you have it for now but remedy it in the future. I should've mentioned it earlier. :o

OOC: Beamer did choose to haste Reinert. None of the horses are hasted. I'm going to hold off on posting Beamer's next action until I can see what happens on the spider's (and other potential enemies') turn.

Round 1 (con't)
As the spider's fangs bear down on the dwarf, Rasereit smacks the beast with his axe. (dmg 13) This doesn't stop the monstrosity from sinking its teeth through his armor, inflicting a bloody and venomous wound. (21 dmg to Razh + fort save DC 20 to avoid 2d6 str drain)

Due to the cover of the tree branches and Rasereit's horse, Eusebius doesn't currently have a shot at the spider. He casts Bless.

Banion hurls his mind blade at the creature, bypassing the various objects in the way and striking the creature. (dmg 8 - mindless)

Round 2...

(Everyone may have additional actions due to being hasted. Beamer's spell affected everyone but Reinert, who has already acted, in round 1. Map virtually unchanged. I'm going to keep the horses at 10'x5', at least for now. I'm also not giving the spider reach on its bite attack, as I don't see why it would get that.)

Combat notes & Initiative:
Reinert (bless & haste)
Beamer (bless & haste)
Rasereit (bless & haste)
Ogrin (bless & haste)
big spider (-13)
Eusebius (mage armor, bless & haste)
Banion (bless & haste)

ooc: Ah, I thought I didn't have a visible target in round 1, so that's good. If that was my damage roll in round 2, though, it was 13 damage not 8. I didn't roll the 1d8 pychic strike, so it doesn't need to be subtracted.

(That's 6 from the base longsword damage, 4 from psychokinetic weapon, 1 from strength, 1 from enhancement, and 1 from PBS.)

That thing is bigger than most houses! Ras is in trouble! Beamer thinks. He steps just off the path (K7) and throws all his energy into a corrsucating ray that flies from his fingertips.

OOC:
Hopefully there is some part of the spider that is not concealed by the trees, and if so, Beamer aims there. If not, then roll high please. :)
Beamer casts empowered ray of enfeeblement (1d20+11=16, 1d6+3=9). That would be a 13 penalty to Str. Note since (I think) the spider has only the bite for natural attack it is getting 1.5 Str to damage, so a Str -13 gives a -6 to hit and a -9 to damage.

Spells remaining: 0th: 6, 1st: 5, 2nd: 6, 3rd: 2
