Sam Raimi - 'I would love to do the 4th Evil Dead film!'

ABSOFRIGGINLUTELY.

Except, personally, if it had Freddy or Jason it. I think that would be just stupid. (I am not a fan of either of those characters.)

I agree, a Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash would be goofy, just because I think the "reality" Ash inhabits doesn't jive with the reality in which Freddy and Jason exist. They don't go together; it's like peanut butter and motor oil.

That said, if an F v. J. v A. movie makes it even 1% more likely that we'll get a fourth Evil Dead movie, I say bring it on. :D

(And I have to admit that if such a thing did come out, I'd probably break down and see it just out of curiosity. And to see Ash kicking some donkey.) ;)

I actually think Ash's reality jives pretty well with the
Freddy/Friday world. I dunno, maybe it's just the campy
humour in all three franchises.

As for Evil Dead 4, I'd frickin' love it, but I'm not holding
my breath.

Actually, the Evil Dead Necrominicon actually appears in JASON GOES TO HELL. In the original script, it's spelled out that Jason's mom made a deal with something to have a child (ala, THE RING). Considering how industructible he is, it would make sense that Jason was one of the evil dead.

While I think the movie would be great (I can just imagine Ash freaking out when confronting the monsters), I do worry that it may take away some of the horror associated with Freddy and Jason. Sort of like the ABBOTT & COSTELLO MEETS... movies. While Freddy could certainly get away with the humor, I'm not sure Jason could.

New Line owns TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE. Maybe Freddy vs Ash and Jason vs Leatherface movies would be better?

Personally, I loved F VS J, but I don't understand why they want to do a series of F VS J films. One team-up is good, but a series would be hard to justify. I think they should just use the team-up to help relaunch the individual series.

Getting back to Evil Dead, I'd love to see another. ARMY OF DARKNESS is one of my all time favorites.

Evil Dead (and subsequent films) is easily my single greatest movie love, ever. I'm one of those crazy Bruce Campbell fanboys who buy his (hilarious!) books, and own bootleg copies of Within the Woods. Thus, if an Evil Dead 4 came out, I'd be in the theaters for days straight. :D

I mean, I'm probably gonna drive hundreds of miles to see Bubba Ho-Tep. It's a film Bruce Campbell's in about a former Elvis impersonator who believes he is Elvis that lives in an old folk's home that happens to be the site of some Egyptian evil.

Sam Raimi has established himself as a director with Spider-Man, so an Evil Dead 4 isn't so far-fetched if he really wants it. AND THAT SHORT LITTLE BASTARD HAD BETTER. :D

No, no, no! Ditch Freddy & Jason altogether (they've already had "their" buddy picture) & go straight to Leatherface vs Ash.

Chainsaws for everyone!!

No Leatherface. He doesn't fit. If you want to team him up with someone,
it'd be Blair Witch Project or something similar. He's a completely different
kind of character.

Well, of the two franchises (Freddy and Jason) I've always found the Jason
movies to be the funnier. I mean, Jason wouldn't have to do any funny quips
or slapstick or anything. After all, while the early Freddy movies were quite
scary the Friday movies... well, aren't (with the possible exception of JGtH).
I love the big ole' lumberjack of a zombie.

Does that maybe just mean I'm sick? :p

To me, the question on hand is, does Sam Raimi even know about the mentionings of a Freddy vs Jason vs Ash movie, and if so, is that the Evil Dead 4 movie he's talking about?

I agree that the main problem with such a movie (Freddy vs Jason vs Ash) would be that, while all those characters lend themselves to action, Ash is strongly identified as a humorous character, while Freddy and Jason are more horrific ones. Humor and horror don't blend well together. The result would either be an action slapstick with the two horror giants, or Ash in the first serious Evil Dead role he's had since Evil Dead I.
